Witton embark on their longest journey of the season on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Workington AFC in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

Two games in the space of three days is a challenge but it is one that John Macken’s team are capable of overcoming.

Successive wins against Leek Town and Skelmersdale United have kept Albion in the hunt for the play offs and whilst the game is not must-win, ideally they would love to come away from Cumbria unbeaten.

Albion’s record at Workington is a good one, only one defeat in their last nine visits but the two sides haven’t faced each other at Borough Park since February 2019 when Witton clinched the points in a 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Will Jones and Danny McKenna.

The reverse fixture at the U Lock It Stadium earlier in the season saw Witton come out on top in a five goal thriller, with a brace from leading sorer Joe Duckworth and one from loanee Vani Da Silva.

Workington have suffered four home defeats this season and Albion often save their best performances for games against the top teams.

They will need another performance of those proportions to get anything from what will be a difficult game but, they’re more than capable of it.

Kick off at Borough Park is 3pm.

Looks like we are in for a beating at 3-0 and down to 10 men. Not like us to be getting players sent off, so assume there’s a story behind this.

We have actually had EIGHT red cards this season.

Disappointing but that’s what happens if you have a player sent off after 20mins for indiscipline against a good side.

Not out of it yet but not looking great. UTA
