Worksop Town

Weather does not look at all good and I doubt it will be on. Winter has finally arrived!

Aye looking likely we’ll get snow on friday/the weekend. Have we got an orange ball? B)

No but we have got a “Bavarian Night” Friday, May even get the Players there if theres no game Saturday?

We may need some of that oompah on the pitch on Friday.

This was taken about half an hour ago, and with temps not due to get above freezing until after weekend plus the added snow we are due I doubt we will be on. Again

And for the last hour it’s been snowing on it, let’s hope for some sanity and hope the league allows Friday pitch inspections, we can always use the Kendal pics

Oh the weather outside is frightful… I believe a decision on tomorrows match may be made this afternoon at some point, due to some common sense being applied by the league, last night prior to the snow a large part of the pitch was frozen with snow falling on top of this it ain’t looking great

I actually think the game should be given every chance, the snow will prevent an overnight frost and can be moved off the pitch if enough volunteers are available.

From years gone by we have often had bumper crowds as a result of being the only game on in the area - don’t see any problem with an a.m. pitch inspection. Worksop have lost 3 on the spin and we may be better off playing them when their confidence is a little low.

Probably needs some guidance from Mr Lomas to the possibilities and requirements.

Totally agree with Andy, personally I would love for the game to go ahead a good old fashioned football match in the snow orange ball and Bovril  Will gladly help clear the pitch!

But its upto to th clubs and the referee, probably health and safety will get in the way :frowning:

The pitch was frozen solid before the snow started. It won’t thaw so even removing the covering of snow won’t help.

OFF .sick

I hear what you are saying…but consideration also has to be given to the travelling conditions coming from Worksop, plus the state of the surrounding roads, the terraces etc.

And as said previously, it is the fact that the pitch was already frozen before the snow that has caused the biggest issue.

‘I hear what you’re saying’ - clicheyying hell!

Yep lets consider Worksop (good old Witton always thinking of other people!) Unthinkable that we should make Worksop have a bad journey across to us!

Remember the year we lost the league when we called the midweek Telford game off because we’re good old Witton and Telford wanted an early decision.

They were struggling and we were flying at the time but good old Witton obliged and the game was called off too early, yet turned out it was playable and i thinkit was even trained on that night and the rest as they say is history!

Not suggesting it should be on for one minute, just think that the decision should be delayed and the pitch/volunteers given every chance.

  1. The league have already helped Worksop out once as the original game was scheduled for a Saturday and tomorrow we were originally down to play fylde, but the league bumped that and gave us Worksop instead. Cannot ever recall a Saturday postponed game being rearranged for a Saturday in this league.
  2. The whole divisions fixtures have been postponed because some common sense was applied by the league, let’s not knock that as it doesn’t happen often.
  3. Worksop may have lost the last three but we have one suspension and injuries to several key players so maybe it’s a blessing in disguise the white stuff.

Yeah, what he said!!!

Don’t forget, our players have to travel too. If it’s not safe it’s not safe. Hence Bavarian Night going the same way…

Roads okay n gardens n parks soft n playable - just sayin!

Dammed if you do/dammed if you don’t. Just thinking of some of the comments on here after the FCUM game.

Exactly why im happy with the early decision TT.

I have just been down the ground, and although when you first walk out on the pitch, it would appear to be playable, when you have a closer examination, there are areas still frozen, I would say it was 75% playable, 25% unplayable

Went fishing n caught a couple!!!

Re FC Utd game apparently they were not allowed to call the game off based on what might happen or a weather forecast or even a pitch thats saturated, new year, new rules.
