Wythenshawe FC v. Witton Albion

Witton make their second visit to Manchester in four days on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Wythenshawe FC in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

As with the game in midweek at neighbours Wythenshawe Town, this is another first for the two clubs as they have never met in a competitive game before.

Wythenshawe FC known as “The Ammies” due to their previous guise under the name Wythenshawe Amateurs, have made an impressive start to their first campaign at this level and find themselves in the top six going into the weekend fixtures.

The “Ammies” made the Northern Premier League West Division as champions of the North West Counties Premier Division at the end of the 2023/24 season and have taken to it well so far.

Under the guidance of manager Shane Goldrick and his assistant Mike Worthington, they have assembled a team of experienced players along with a mixture of youth and their results have been encouraging.

There are a number of faces in their squad who will be familiar to Witton fans particularly wing back Ally Brown and midfielder Michael Monaghan.

One of the dangers who will need careful watching is leading scorer Abdullahi Ahmed who has netted seven times so far this season alongside another former Albion striker Darrhyl Mason.

Another tough game is to be expected and Witton will have to perform better than on their previous visit earlier in the week in order to get the desired result.

Kick off at Hollyhedge Park Community Stadium is 3pm.

Well we need a good quick return to Wythenshawe with a win to get back on track!

I think only changes in midfield required with German and King starting with Graham to try and get some zip and pressing back in there.

Good luck to whoever plays. UTA

A useful point against an in-form team and we climb to eleventh in the table.

Witton are next in action next Saturday when we welcome Clitheroe to the U Lock It Stadium for a 3pm kick off.

A decent point cannot comment on the game as I was away, surprised Rokka starting not shown anything recently but probably shows our need of a good striker.

Still in the mix for play offs if we continue to improve. UTA

Can only go by comments from the supporters who were there and the feeling was that we dominated the game and should have won.

Excellent goal from Isaac Graham, right footed from distance.

Ben was disappointed afterwards not to have taken the three points but a point seems a good result on paper.

Wythenshawe supporters couldn’t believe they ended up with a point as they felt it wasn’t deserved and the sponsors awarded the player of the match to the Wythenshawe goalkeeper.
