Wythenshawe Town v. Witton Albion

Witton are on the road again on Saturday when they travel to Wythenshawe Town in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

The third of four successive away games pits Albion against a Wythenshawe Town team who find themselves in the relegation zone once again.

The Manchester-based club were reprieved at the end of last season when they finished in the bottom four, due to another club not meeting the criteria.

The two meetings last season saw Wythenshawe Town win comfortably at Ericstan Park, whilst Witton secured a narrow victory in the return game at the U Lock It Stadium later in the campaign.

A number of their squad from last season have moved on, most notably to Atherton Collieries but some still remain at the club.

Witton will be hoping that their current injury situation improves enough ahead of the game but, injuries to key players in midweek may effect Ben Harrison’s team selection.

One player who won’t be involved is midfielder Remi Raymond, who has returned to his parent club Altrincham after making a positive impact during his time with the club.

Three points are needed because a defeat would see their opponents close the gap to a single point.

A tough game is expected but Witton will be looking to put distance between themselves and their opponents.

Kick off at Ericstan Park is 3pm.

Not a great place to visit but a chance to get 3 points hopefully after a little bit better form and signings.

Not sure about the new defender BDK or Tierney’s best position but I would like to see us start with

Terry

Bembo-Leta, Ebhote, Langley, Fleming

Harrop, Bairstow, Brazel.

Akpo, Hoyle, Duckworth.

leaving a quite strong bench to utilise later on.

Good luck lads. UTA

Not a lot to say about that game but awful

First half fairly even. Conceded yet another soft goal but equalised with a well taken goal from Bairstow.

Had two further decent chances; one was good work by Hoyle, but his shot wasn’t strong enough, allowing the keeper to save. The second fell to Duckworth he shot well but too close to the keeper who saved well.

Second half was awful. Won hardly any 50/50s or second balls. Didn’t clear our lines quickly enough on several occasions. One of these led to us conceding a free kick wide on the left. A good ball in and a diving header at the far post and we were 2-1 down.

Still missing a physical presence in mid-field and some pace in defence.

Awful performance a poor side beaten by a very poor side who just battled harder.

I don’t understand what we are doing as a team, we needed badly a holding midfielder with energy (and that’s not Bott), but we sign 2 centre backs which didn’t need and throw one in at fullback today who looked lost and gave possession away at will.

We keep trying a shape it doesn’t work we try another shape it doesn’t work. How about having a plan, get players who fit and then get them playing how you want them to or shift them out!

Only crumb of comfort was watching Bairstow trying to play football with great energy and the glimpse of Edwards back from injury, other than that we were terrible with Ben being on his Hols.

We needed change from the mgt but why didn’t we give Woods a run with his pace he could have opened them up but no, we take Brazel off and put Bembo-Leta on. WoW, I despair just now with our approach and recruitment!

Something needs to change and PDQ.

Agree CJ., I could not bring myself to put them many words on print, that was one of the worst performances of our season (and we have had a few).

Something has to change very quick.
