I thought it might be fun to hear of the supporters footballing careers, might even work in the programme. I have a few tales to tell and I am sure so do many others, they could be exciting or simply funny so who wants to go first?

Nice idea WHS
I think as it was your suggestion that you should go first
Short version. Crap at football at school but managed to just make the team. Played Rugby until I was 15 then played in Junior League for a side we put together ourselves called Rudheath Juniors. We were awful and folded after two seasons though we did get to play a semi at the old Central Ground which we lost. Signed for Hartford but Lostock thought I was good enough for them, I wasn’t really but we won all the trophies that year. Signed for Church Inn in Sunday League and had two seasons with them/ At the same time I played for Mid Cheshire College in the College league on a Saturday morning and in the Central Cheshire League in the afternoon, yes, I played three times every weekend for two years. Played a pre season friendly at the Drill Field one August evening for Lostock Gralam, my boot was “sucked” off as I ran onto the pitch it was that wet! Sold Ron Cope the ex Manchester United centre half a dummy and crossed for someone else to score. And that was about it, from then on it was downhill all the way playing for poor teams in poor leagues until I injured my ankle and knee and packed up playing at the age of 29. I then ran a Junior Team that reached the final of the Mid Cheshire Cup but lost to Knutsford Boys Club. I then had a burst of common sense when, having taken my boys to Winnington Park I was persuaded to play Rugby again a game I was much better at and at one point I even got a regular place in the third team at the age of 38.
There was more but it was not worth mentioning apart from saying I have played at the Drill Field, the Central Ground, Lostock, Middlewich, Barnton, Knutsford and Winsford though only in semi finals or finals or friendlies. Surely someone has a better tale to tell?

I realised the above is a bit boring okay, VERY boring so how about the time Gil Prsecott playing for Rudheath Juniors hit a free kick so hard at Leftwich that it lifted the crossbar off its setting and nearly “brained” the keeper? Or the day Ray Duncalf booted the opposition centre forward up the backside when the ref wasn’t looking then, with the centre forward in hot pursuit ran around screaming that the man had lost his marbles! The poor centre forward got sent off. At half time in a sevens game at Moss Farm the opposition put on a substitute I knew to be very talented but with little “Bottle” so I told Deke, our hard man to nail him early. I meant tackle him hard, Deke nearly killed him he hit him so hard! After the match which we won I remonstrated with Deke that he had gone way over the top the way he had tackled said player, his reply? We won didn’t we? There was no answer to that.
Come on lads, you can do better.
WHS…
Alan you neglected to mention the infamous “Tolcarne Rangers” a rag bag bunch of renegades who didn’t really want to play the compulsory rugger at SJD.
You were that desperate I even got to play at least twice  behind the Farmers and on Jubilee at Winnington. I hasten to add my only time playing in proper 11 a side.
God, those were the days! We only played four games and won them all!! Then sadly half the team went to Marbury to play in the new Junior League and we set up Rudheath Juniors, we had to drop the Tolcarne Rangers name as the league wouldn’t accept it. In that team were Alan Barker, Roy Knop, Gil Prescott, Dave Booth not sure who else, do you remember?
