YOUTH TEAM MAINTAIN HOME FORM

MID-CHESHIRE LEAGUE RES. DIV. ? Saturday February 4th 2006

WITTON ALBION YOUTH 5 EAGLE SPORTS RESERVES 0
With Jim Vince watching on Albion took the field with Gary Furnival making his first start since last Easter and with midfielder Craig Fleury newly signed and having played for Ashton United and FC United previously.

It took a while before the team finally got on the score-sheet. After numerous attempts had either been snatched on too soon and consequently sent wide of the target, a minute from the break Alex Dunne placed their last defender under extreme pressure the ball came loose and was pounced on by JASON LORD who calmly converted from ten yards out.

All three points were secured just before the hour mark when firstly LORD again quickly gained possession following a mid-field melee. He took the ball down the left before sending a strong low shot past the visiting keeper. Minutes later sheer persistence from Adam Clarke on the by-line won him the ball back and when he clipped the ball in ALEX DUNNE was on hand to flick home.

On 70 minutes DUNNE collected a high ball from mid-field and as the keeper advanced he lobbed the ball precisely over him to make it 4-0. Eagle then missed out on a good chance to get on the score-sheet when they were awarded a penalty kick. Matt Knowles guessed right diving to his top left, however the ball struck the crossbar anyway.

In quick succession both Furnival and Fleury were then withdrawn and the finishing touch was then duly applied by substitute OLIVER PARKER two minutes from time who turned and converted well.

So the team got back to winning ways, along with improving their season?s unbeaten home league record that now runs to ten matches, notching up 31 goals along the way!
.
Team:- Knowles; M Clarke, Blinkhorn, Furnival (Ashton 72), Tomlinson; Garner, Fleury (Parker 80), Nolan; A Clarke, Dunne (Bentley 60), Lord.
