A Northwich Victoria fan at work believes that the chant of “zigga zagga” originated from the drill field. Does anybody know where it started?
Think it was an old Stoke chant.
From Keith Clayton…
"Play by Peter Terson in the 60’s shown on BBC about football hooliganism. The original Zigger Zagger was John Bailey who used to keep trouble to a minimum in the Boothen Road End at Stoke. Short stature with a bushy beard - he was not intimidated and controlled the idiots. Used to see him at the Alex when Friday night matches were actually played. Great bloke and to confirm that Zigger Zagger has **** all to do with the Drill Field. "
And whats even more intriguing…you found a Vics fan… bowdown
The first time I heard V*cs fans singing their version was early 90’s during the conference days, it was sung at the Central Ground at least a decade earlier maybe two. Another one they copied from us
They were still formed in 1874, the original “Trickies” and their old ground was the oldest in the world!!!
