1874 and All That........

They are opening a shop in a prime spot in the Town Centre !

Hope that the council is not subsidising them . Typical rents & rates for these shops are £400 pw !

The last lot had a shop in the precinct, think I saw it open once! It didn’t do them any good and I can’t see it doing much for this lot. If it was a money maker I’m sure we would have tried it by now.

I might be wrong but I’m sure I heard that this 1874 “shop” was going to be more of a drop in centre where the elderly/needy can pop in for a cup of tea, coffee etc. If that is the case then I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the council subsidise the rent, rates etc. As we all know the council have historically always favoured the green half of town anyway and I can’t see that changing unfortunately.

Going by the ages of many of the Vics supporters it will be a drop in and drop off centre!! Anyway, why worry they are still basically dead, they will NEVER be the force they were when they were spending other people’s money!!

If we were a ‘Northwich based’ club playing in a different town, I’m sure we’d be looking for somewhere to act as a base in Northwich. It’s something they’re going to have to do in order to maintain a presence in the town.

Move along folks, nothing to see here…

Vics died two years ago and like Elvis they are still dead!!

Actually Elvis works in the Spar here in Kings Heath…He’s a lot more alive than the shit.

“There’s a guy works down the chip shop swears he’s Elvis, but he’s a liar and so are Vics 1874”!!!

If the council are funding a drop in centre for the elderly then what is what it should be called, iif volunteers who run this drop n centre want to promote their favourite club, then that is fine but it should be called a drop in centre not a supporters shop. If it is funded as a supporters shop by the council then they should fund one for us as well or at least ensure that 50% of the shop is for Witton Albion seeing as we actually play in the town.

To those who say nothing to see, apathy ended up with World War 2 If you are apathetic and ignore the little battles then soon yu will face a big one

Someone needs to ask Cheshire council via a freedom of information request, I would do it myself but I do not live in cheshire.

Contact Tony Lawrenson or George Mainwairing, they will have all the answers you need. But just remember Vics were only successful because they used other people’s money which is not going to happen again, even Vics supporters are not that stupid as to loan or give money to a club who never paid it back the last time or the time before.

Honestly are you really going to be that petty? Life is to short…

In the past I have been accused of being fixated on Northwich Vics, maybe rightly so, but not anymore, they are as relevant as a football “power” as Lostock Gralam or Barnton and unlikely to ever be anything else so let’s stop bothering about them any more than we bother about the other two, they exist, but not at our level. As for the drop in centre if I see more than three in there at any one time I will be astounded.

Dead or alive ? Couldn’t help but note there were 389 at lasts night game at Slow and Easy…not a bad turn out for pre season friendly, first ever game or not

I think we need to be more aware with regard to 1874. As much as we might like to think they are all a bunch of twits, they are not. To suggest otherwise is arrogant. They will have good ideas and we need to recognise that. They have to be innovative to get their new club off the ground - be careful we don’t dismiss all they do. There will be good ideas in there that we can adapt too.

Not a chance there were 389 at Lostock, I played for Lostock for three seasons and you would struggle to get 250 max at their ground.

In regards to thinking like a NWCL league team then we really are taking massive backwards steps!

They are a small club in Winsford and always will be

My apologies it was 307 but that’s the official gate .this was a Cheshire league 2 v NWCfL div 1 friendly game .Didnt know you played for them JOhny but the ground has been done up in past 3 years ,the Lambs got a proper team now

Ha ha we weren’t bad I played going back 7 years ago (Lostock lad me), then me and Daz Hayes started the Reserves team with a certain 16 year old Ben Harrison upfront when Ted took over as manager.

Lets be honest they are no FCUM are they…

Every man and his dog was going to turn up for that game so they can say “I was there” at 1874’s first game. It will be interesting to see if they get an attendance like that at Winsford on a cold, bleak tuesday evening in january when daisy hill or the like visit

Lostock were a better side 7 years ago not up much these days. Whilst dismissing them is arrogant so is claiming that in 3 years time we will be playing each other in the same league which is what they’re spouting. We shouldn’t be worried about them on the pitch, but off it they’re now competition for fans. A few v**** fans came to watch us last year they won’t this season. So that’s money we won’t be getting this season.

Agree with paul on this, we shall see how they cope in the middle of winter when the bills and players need to be payed and games are called off due to frozen pitches, I think they may be in for a shock on how much it costs to run a football club.
