2016/17 Season

Witton have provisionally been placed in Evo-Stik Division One South for the 2016/17 Season.

Às stated previously, the allocations are provisional and will be ratified at the Evo-Stik League AGM in June.

What a nonsense…you just couldn’t make it up

Increased travel and a reduction in away fans .veryangry

lots of long away trips for us both, only 3 other localish clubs, leek, kidsgrove and Newcastle. I think clubs may receive compensation but not sure and going to be more difficult to attract players due to addition travel.

No compensation was received last time and it was a very costly exercise, coupled with a lack of local games and low interest in the division generally. A tough pill to swallow that one.

Surely we stand a better chance of promotion though !? The southern section doesn’t have the calibre of the Northern section.

Can anyone explain why teams from Northamptonshire are in the Northern league and not the Southern one? Rushden, for example, is only 70 miles from London

It’s a ridiculous pathetic joke, which idiots have come up with this utter nonsense!

AND IT IS NOT “EASIER” at all last time this awful scenario was perpetrated upon us we struggled.

mooney :red bangwall

AND last time we went DOWN and were placed in the South, this time we are potentially being severley punished FOR NO APPARENT REASON!

I am completely convinced that our association with that scumbag Rushe is behind this, I did say our association with that so and so would tar us (and that was before his conviction)!

The allocations are determined by the Football Association Leagues Committee, nothing to do with the league. Another thing which could’ve played a part in this decision is that three of the four clubs relegated from the Evo-Stik Premier Division are northern -based: Ramsbottom, Hyde & Colwyn Bay. Witton and Northwich were the two most southerly clubs in the Evo-Stik Division One North last season.

Not great news this. On balance, a bad thing. I think the Southern section is weaker than the North but 3 big downsides. Less local games, meaning less interest from home fans. Less well supported teams in this section meaning less away fans. But most importantly, hard to attract the player pool from Manchester and Liverpool to travel west to east across what to be honest is a poor road network, especially midweek, after work.

The forum will be down for a short period of time due to maintenance.

On the positive side it’s something to moan about Eh?

That’s just awful news.

M.M.

The Forum has now gone from “on maintenance” to just gone.

Its an ex-forum, more bad news to come perhaps?

Bummer! The Otley crew will certainly miss the “home” games at Brighouse Town, Farsley Celtic, Ossett Albion, Ossett Town, Scarborough Athletic and Tadcaster Albion. Tadcaster! What a great day out that is btw!

But, we’ll look forward to Sheffield, Stocksbridge and Shaw Lane? Where the **** is Shaw Lane?

barnsley and they have got money lost in play off final

yeah that sourthern england town Barnsley

Yes, Oddfellow, agree.

There are negatives, but, hey, if we can leave Europe I’m sure WAFC can leave the North! I think we should see it as an opportunity and grasp the opportunity to move forward despite what the doubters might say - on both counts! :clap :clap

yeah agree, its the hand we have been dealt, we can whinge and moan about it but its not likely to change. just a case of winning promotion and getting to the prem… :goal . see you all in august UTA

Evesham is a lovely place and I am looking forward to going there . Great pubs proper ales and ciders .
