I understand the issue was with the back of the shirts. Which are both identical (due to being the exact same shirt other than the colour of the stripes). Both shirts are white on the back.
The issue of the kit should have been sorted by the representatives of both Witton and Grantham and the referee before the teams took to the pitch. Grantham could only have played in black and white stripes or red, both of which would have clashed. Whilst, of course, the away team should change it is not the end of the world that Witton changed but preferably before kickoff.
The referee messed up and it do believe it affected his game in the first half. He missed a clear handball for a penalty shortly after their penalty.
To suggest the game should be replayed is utterly ridiculous. Put your boot on the other foot and what would be the forum reaction if Grantham were the shirt changers. Absolute nonsense,
Witton fans always feel hard done to. The team were poor again yesterday. Brilliant at Rushall put away performances won,t keep the home support.
The buck stops with Pritch and co and I hope he has the courage of his suggestion in the Guardian to change faces. We do seem intent on playing the long ball at home but why doesn’t Pritch tell Cooper not to lump it.
GE
Pritch is doing a fantastic job, look where we were when he took over and where we are now.
Some how come Blyth foresaw the issue and bought a third kit knowing either of their first two were not suitable
For me the buck stops with Grantham officials.
I’m also bored of this one now though so that’s the end of it from me unless someone else from Grantham wants to talk garbage
It was like watching two pub teams play on a Sunday with hangovers and the officials were blind drunk.
Grantham should of worn our blue kit and none of this mess would still be talked about!
Onwards and upwards now, hopefully Eastwood away on Saturday will be the ideal match to get back to winning ways

I missed this one but it’s pretty clear who deserved the win and GE is right to ditch the strip issue and look at what went wrong on the park.Injured players, suspensions ,loss of form because over played some players, others not had a run out yet expected to slip straight in as if never been away, players out of position.Fact is squad rotation hasnt featured until forced upon us .A part of management few get right by the way .However there is a silver lining - maybe a cause of some embarrassment but last night the kit thing was the topic of conversation in my boozer, all the old VIcs boys harping on about it with lots of interested floating premier league supporters.iT was the chat down MOss FArm this morning and no doubt will come up regularly in pub quizes.BEst publicity since CUrzon AShton and I may even give TAlk Sport a buzz myself tomorrow morning !
NOw, EAstwood are in NOttinghamshire I think and near the bottom of the league …
PS WInston, your point is accepted and I don’t think you are casting aspirations at our chairman but be a good chap and get back to taunting LIncoln fans or whoever your true rivals are ,we are quite capable of arguing the toss amongst ourselves !
But you can watch those in glorious HD :woohoo:
A couple of things about this kit rubbish. As stated this should have been spotted before any team travelled and on the day by one of the people in charge! To let the game start, state there was a problem and allow the game to continue was poor and did distract. The problem with the kits was not the stripes but the fact both teams having white panels at the back. This was highlighted by the stinky Pete linesman as why he got the offside decision wrong against us in the first few minutes, not sure how when the players were running towards him and the issue was the back. Personally I think Grantham should have changed like we had to wear Lincoln uniteds kit at their place a few years ago. It was changed at half time because it looked awful, simple as that.
As for the game it was poor, you would not believe it was the same team that had ripped apart a big rushall outfit on Tuesday. The inconsistency of performance is what is starting to bite us hard
As Matchday Secretary, I wrote to Grantham 3 weeks ago, showing a picture of the front of our kit, as I do for all games. They replied stating they would be playing in Black & White stripes. No alarm bells were set off, as above pictures of Newcastle United v Sunderland show there should have been no problem.
The referee did express some concern 45mins before kick off as both teams were playing in stripes. There used to be a rule stating this was not allowed, but this has been relaxed now. (Some older fans will remember the Marine FA Trophy semi-final in 1992, when we had to purchase some all red shirts, as we were not allowed to play in red/white stripes against a team playing in white). Grantham explained that they only had 2 kits, their black & white stripes and their red kit. They had chosen their Black & White kit, as they perceived that this would not cause a problem.
As Club Shop states above, the real problem arose after kick-off when the linesman on the far side got an offside decision woefully wrong, and complained to the referee that the reason for his error was because the back of the shirts(predominately white) was the cause of his indiscretion. Pictures of kits in the handbook only display the front view of a strip, but not the back view.
As Grantham had no alternative kit to wear, WITTON were asked to change their shirts. I am not sure what the reasoning was to use the Jack Richards yellow shirts. but I believe that because they had UNIBOND labels on them, they were changed to the blue kit at half time, which has the Evostik label on them.
Only question for me is why did WE have to change kits? Too nice at Witton sometimes we should have refused to.
Understand the frustration re the kit, but bottom line is you can’t legislate for players inconsistency, the default long ball does seem to be a recurring theme though which needs addressing.
Last thought from me and it is sometimes difficult - ‘Win with style, lose with grace.’
See you on the beach at Eastwood!

For me the kit was a non issue yes a bit poor and should have been sorted out by the officials before hand, more important was the really poor onfield display- why are we so inconsistent ? for me several things learnt cross is not really a centre half, young clayton is not ready yet we missed matt woods attacking threat and when it gets tough out there we need a midfield than can be ugly !! call for connors or james ? does anyone else think that after the first 3 games or so when foster was playing so well that he is now tailing off and looking like the player that left us last time ? if we remain this inconsistent then we must settle for a position probably just above half way, I suspect Pritch will not let that be the case, for me we still need a centre back-leader of the defence and a quick bigger striker plus the lads back from injury and we will be a very good team certainly in the playoffs- now getting those players that will make the difference is another matter.

Anybody with any clue about football will realise that Witton were not to blame.
Meanwhile, any casual observer reading this thread would think we were a bunch of bitter, petty, poor losers.
Of the 2 things, i know which would be more inclined to put me off watching Witton.
People we are trying to persuade are not reading this forum, they are often people who think that football at this level is not worth paying to watch and is not run professionally. Teams turning up with a red strip when they now we play in red and then useless officials turning it into a far s does not help convince people that this level is worth paying for. Even if we had won it would still have looked ridiculous.
So far this season games have been delayed whilst we find balls that are pumped up, and the even more embarrassing moment where a game was delayed whilst dog mess was removed from the pitch.
Yet not a peep on here?
The only people still debating it are us lot! Seriously, what’s the point?!
The ref has messed up. But the Witton performance will have more baring on whether people come to the next home game or not.
“Dog” mess you say, twas the work of the phantom shitter I tell you…!
I do believe that the phantom shitter is no other than are good old friend… WHS!
Cross has played a lot of his earlier career at CB, and was also outstanding there last Tuesday.
Foster was also outstanding last Tuesday.
The only game i would say he hasn’t performed in was on Saturday…along with 13 others.
Difficult for a forward to get in the game when the 9 players behind him aren’t offering service.
Cross may have been a centre half in his early career but that doesnt make him one now ? he is a bit too slow and not that tall so not the standard we need imo On Foster granted foster/tuck had poor service but he did not look himself - apart from the booking ? maybe missing the sitter unsettled him, just interested because soon it will be decision time to sign him or end his loan I must admit I am still very unsure but will admit he has played well in a few games, on balance I think I would prefer to try and find a younger, fitter, quicker and bigger striker That imo would suit the teams needs better and give us a plan B when we need it however finding one will be the issue i guess.
I would love us to sign Steve Foster permanently. He has been brilliant for us - bar Saturday.
His effort levels are tremendous, he’s creative and he’s clinical infront of goal. What more do people want from a striker?
It’s all well and good saying “sign a younger, fitter striker,” but there aren’t many former Premier Division golden boot winners knocking about.
He doesnt need to be a former golden boot winner, he needs to a be a potential “future golden boot winner” TBH I dont really care ! whatever Pritch decides will do for me Im only having a discussion on a forum, not moaning not criticising just debating with my opinions and i love hearing others views ( even if they are wrong ) so long as its passionate about Witton im happy to agree or disagree but we all want the same end result.
