Had me going for a bit. Of course this was Colne Dynamos. (Newcastle Blue Star are now defunct as well of course)

Remember going to Colne away that season, cold horrible mid week night to the middle of nowhere and beyond. Next season we saw Mason, Grimmy, Stuart Anderson and ooh ahh Karl Thomas at WP. From whom did we sign the great one?

Was it colne after they went bump?
I thought Colne too but it was a long time ago and maybe being blinded by the rest of the players we got from there.
I also remember seeing Andy grimshaw listed in an old United yearbook and thinking he must be brilliant if he played for United

I too thought it was South Liverpool but now one or two have said Colne I’m not sure if he was there inbetween, perhaps CHAD can clarify?
For a bonus point, who was in goal for the Albs when we played Colne away during that season?

i might be wrong but i think we bought thomas from colne before they went bust for 10k.

That’s why everything went “tits up” great 2 seasons yep, however we have paid for it since !
God I wish we had 10k now just to keep the sticking plaster on.
I think Colne paid 15k for him from South Liverpool and then we got him on the cheap for 10k!!
OK folks re the effervescent Karlos, the gen I have on him that having started with Ellesmere Port he hen went to South Liverpool and Colne’s Mr White was forced to part with £25k to secure his services.
When it all went tits up in Central Lancashire then we paid them £10k at the beginning of the 90/91 campaign. 172 games and 105 goals later Runcorn paid us £9k.
After two seasons at Canal Street Karl was brought back to Wincham Park for £7k at the start of the 95/96 season, only to be signed by Bangor City 19 matches later for £9k. His spell at Farrar Road was even shorter before he rejoined Runcorn.
Following sorties with Stalybridge and Droylsden Karl re-joined Albion towards the end of the 96/97 season.
Total Albion stats 186 starts, 9 substitute and a goal tally of 116. :clap
