What have a Winsford team got to do with Northwich Town Council? I thought the merger idea in the programme was brilliant, the two teams renamed “Winsford 3891”!!
WHS.
Lovely people who run Northwich town council were very helpful to me over a witton cementry issue and a lot of witton greats are down there I always look and remember when I go to see my parents and grandparents graves. The point is yes 1874 are playing in winsford so if NTC want to sponsor us whats wrong with that so I’m sad if the rumours are true about this.
However despite what we all think 1874 will not go away. They do have influences locally and they will probably end up playing back in Northwich probably at moss farm when they will become a real threat. We need to be more dynamic now while we are in a good position one that we’ve not been in for a number of years!! See my post elsewhere.

When it was discussed in the past where WAFC could move to IF we were to ever sell our current ground most people on here ruled out Moss Farm. They said it would be impossible to move there due to all the land being council owned and it having various covenants on it. Why would this be any different for 1874 Northwich?
Because most of the council supported the old Vics.

Maybe in the old days but not now WHS.
In that case they are “Dead in the water”!

See on their forum the Manager Ian Street has been on ( Again )whining about the “holier than thou” fans moaning about the 4-0 thrashing by Winsford in the Winsford derby match, funny I thought everything was perfect in their world. LOL
The big derby last night - a HUGE gate of - 358 oh dear !!! are both clubs in freefall ???
I’m all for baiting and banter CJ but not sure how that constitutes freefall, its a higher gate than all of ours this season, barring the Chester and Vics games!!! and that on a midweek night in January in a cup which most people aren’t bothered about!
Write off the resurgence of the green side at your peril, it may take 1874 10 years but they will eventually play at the same or higher level than us and they will get higher gates than us and they will return to the town at some point.
The wider issue with regard to gates is that we played Vics and 1874 played Winsford on Boxing Day and barely a thousand people in the whole area were so inclined to watch Non-League Football in the area.
Andy when we recently played V**s our gate was 605 is that a direct comparison, I am not writing them off but things not as rosy as they were and they would be the first to comment if it were the other way round so Yes I will have my bit of banter LOL
Northwich Vics are to all intents and purposes “Dead” and 1874 can only move up to our level in Winsford so will never be a Northwich club. The Council will never fund a ground for a professional club whilst they are having to make cuts in health and welfare so a move to Moss Farm is off the cards. 1874 have no serious backers, people who can put in serious money and in my opinion never will have as they have no history, no ground and so basically no future. Meanwhile the Albs are on the up. “Onward and Upwards”.
WHS.
CJ, I wouldn’t in all honesty call that a direct comparison (Boxing Day league game nearly in Northwich versus a Tuesday night out in Winsford for the CSC). No rose-tinted specs here, but I think very few of us actually expected a crowd that high. Plenty of other factors at play - including several that I know who did not go because they did not want to view the ghostly remains of their former club (or because they didn’t want to give them a share of their admission).
As for the future - we’re in it for the long haul and (apart from a few delusional souls) we can be patient and play the long game about getting back into town. Which one day we will.
Andy Chad makes the most telling point - interest in NL football locally has plummetted generally, and both clubs could do with finding a genius with a solution to that state of affairs.
Interest comes with results.
WHS.
Well despite getting results and challenging for a title still only a lowly 211 Gate yesterday on a fine day for football. Oh Dear !!!

Oh Dear !!![/quote]Yeah very poor gate on a good day for football. It seems that supporters are losing interest in watching dog and duck league standards. Ah well at least our gates are going in the right direction. UTA
If they win the league that might change so come on Bootle!!

The novelty does appear to be on the wane for 1874 or whatever they call themselves this week. After the Northwich town council debacle as far as I’m concerned they’ve lost any respect that I had for them there is only one great team playing in Northwich at the moment and thank god I support them been a great season so far and here’s hoping it continues tonight with a win against Belper the only team that has really outclassed us this season.
Mr Barlow whom I thought was an intellgent person from 1874 can’t seem to grasp the fact that Vics made around 80k from the FA Cup last season which more than covered the rent to Witton last season. The rent was paid by the football club out of those proceedings. Before Jim Rushes conviction towards the end of last season the rent was paid by two supporters along with the last three weeks wages and other items, had these of not been paid the club would not have been able to start the season. The football club was owned Martin Rushe, the first installment of rent this season was paid by him out the clubs bank account which the supporters did not have access too at the time. that money came from a share of the FA Cup replay money (non league clubs which reach the 2nd round of the FA cup get a split of replay money) money from the sale of Josh Amis to stockport and the money from the gate against Tranmere in Preseason and a bit of sponsorship from a local business from Northwich, since then the rent to witton has been paid by the kind donations of supporters whom are working tirelessly to try and keep the club alive. Not sure why he is having ago at Witton esp as 1874 took items from the Victoria Stadium Which Mr Rushe/Nick Bone paid for (although Thor let them take them for free) He has posted that we have not paid you any rent in ages which is a complete lie and an insult to the fans whom have pumped £1000’s into the club this season.
So an amalgamation like the one in 1890 is not on the cards?
WHS.
would rather give me money to witton than to them
I don’t know if Mr Barlow is being deliberatly being stupid but he has managed to twist what Brian has said (see below) into we have not been paying you any rent this season when Brian has cleary stated “currently paying.” If Vics fail to pay any of our rent installments the league will take away our license.
Turner added. “We can’t afford the rent we are currently paying by groundsharing at Witton Albion and if we get through this period the club will be leaving in the summer.
