Clitheroe vs Witton Albion

No problem with insulting Vics, in fact I love it, just don’t like bad language, no need for it in my humble opinion, especially when they are premeditated as in chants and songs.
WHS.

I have waited all my life for this moment when WE are the No.1 team in Northwich and celebrating that fact with a few well directed chants in their direction is the least we should do.

What coloured pot do we urinate in??
I am building a bonfire and require something to put on the top and then something in the middle…any suggestions?

Fair point WHS, but some of the best terrace chants use bad language well. And of course, sometimes it’s the only word that rhymes.

Robbo and I were discussing potential signings and chants recently. We mentioned the lad at Skem, Shaun Tuck, and he suggested “Alex! Alex! Who the Tuck is Alex!” No swearing but thought it was funny. We should sign him just so we can sing that.

just alter the wording to the sparrow song.
last line could be.
poo on, poo on. poo on the inbred fans below, below.

then after that we finish off with,
we all( wee) in a green an white pot green an white pot

Mid Cheshire is ours
Mid Cheshire is ou-u-urs
Have a safe journey to Stafford
Mid Cheshire is ours

This is a prime example where changing the words to a BBC / WHS friendly chant just takes away the hatred of which we all have for the green sh*te, has to stay at “f**k off to stafford”

Why don’t we sing all our songs on a time delay, and then WHS can bleep out any offensive words?

Is WHS shorthand for Whitehouse, as in Mary?

Young children come to our games, they should not have to hear some idiots chanting offensive words, it isn’t clever and it isn’t appreciated by the older generation either. If you think chanting or singing something like “The Referee’s a F… B…” is acceptable behaviour then you have gone down in my estimation. I swear at games, don’t we all, but that is in anger not premeditated.
WHS.

Like it or not WHS, choice language is firmy part of British working-class culture. Football is a working-class game. At times it is unnecessary, but for the most part I don’t have a real problem with it. If children don’t hear it at Wincham Park, they’ll hear it somewhere else. Trust me, kids these days know all the swearwords when they’re 10!

And unfortunetly thats the way of parenting these days, swearing in front of their kids is deemed acceptable by some, my kids may learn swearing from others as I did but I know for sure they won’t learn it from me. Lazy parenting is more in evidence than ever. It is an offence to swear at Wincham Park and anyone caught doing so will be asked to leave by stewards signs to this effect will be put up by the start of the season Quote from Vice Chairman Mark Harris

You’re right WHS children shouldn’t have to hear swear words at WP or anywhere else. You do however seem to have rather a short memory on this. In the thirty odd years i’ve been watching football the behaviour/attitude of fans has moved on immeasurably. Not all that long ago violence, racism, homophobia, sexism etc etc was commonplace at football grounds all over the country on a saturday afternoon, even at witton sometimes. You only have to look at some of the scenes from the Euro tournamnet over the last week or so to see how far we have moved on in this country.

I for one would rather hear a few swear words then the things I did see and hear when I started watching football all those years ago. To say that “the older generation” are completely blameless here is downright hypocritial.

Heres a song with no swearing i have made, to the tune of This is how it feels to be lonely…
This is how it feels to be Witton,
Wittoners are giving it mouth,
Coz were in the Northern Prem
and Vics are in Division One South,
Division One South!

Oh ****, now I’ll have to stop calling the ref a ******* ******!!

Calling children “Kids”, that’s something that seems to have crept in, American I think

In an ideal world everybody would be happy all the time, never be angry and everybody would be everybody’s best mate. Unfortunately, we live in the real world where people have imperfections. If the club were to start ‘ejecting’ supporters for foul language then I’d expect to see attendances struggle to reach three figures.

I appreciate the message, but is it really going to happen?

This thread seems to have moved on to a different subject.

As far as I am concerned, swearing is a sign of lack of knowledge of the English Language, when a far better adjective could be used, rather than a swear word.

We should all do our utmost to erase swearing at our matches,as we should also try to remove racism.

I remember many years ago when Uriah Rennie refereed one of our games. Throughout all the game he was called a “GOLLYWOG” by one of our Vice Presidents. After the game, Uriah refused to come into the board room for some hospitality, where he would have received his match expences.

I told Uriah that he would have to come into the Stelfox Lounge to receive his expenses. He very reluctantly agreed. Before I gave him his expenses, I took him over to the Vice President and made the Vice President by Uriah a Drink.

We always got a fair game off Uriah in the games he refereed in future.

WHS’s fault for veering the subject off topic…

I joke, I don’t want any metaphorical knickers getting in a twist.

JUST A COUPLE OF POINTS I HAVE PICKED UP ON:

POINT 1:

oh the irony :stuck_out_tongue:

POINT 2:

It is bad parenting if you take a child to a football game and stand behind the goal with them, when we have a family stand where swearing is banned, although the only swearing I hear from there is coming from the Albion bench and the players, will be a funny scene to see the stewards marshall them out of the ground :cheer:

POINT 3:
it isn’t clever and it isn’t appreciated by the older generation either.
WHS.
I feel this is an older generation choosing to forget that they were once young and I know for a fact your generation was much worse than the lads behind the goal nowadays
As far as I am concerned, swearing is a sign of lack of knowledge of the English Language

and made the Vice President by Uriah a Drink.
I did chuckle at that myself!!

Wonder who will eject supporters for swearing being as all the stewards will no doubt have already been ejected for the same offense?

The older generation were responsible for one of the worst outbursts of unacceptable language we have seen at Witton for some years last season.

i thought we played quite well all the match, but it was a very welcome goal in the last few minutes
by titch. 3 points tho.
lets hope that we can build on this, and go on to clinch a playoff spot.
if we get into the playoffs?

I agree we have got off topic, but I MUST point out it was NOT me who started it this time. As I have said I swear in anger and in temper, I don’t know many people who don’t, my sole objection is the group use of bad language. As for sexism etc, I am against all forms of discrimination, always have been, except of course for Vics and United fans!! I shall refrain from answering any other comments on this subject on this topic.
