What do Coca Cola get up to in India, it intrigues me, I have made many trips to India and see Coke sold in every city that I have been to.
I think the club should enquire whether or not they would sponsor the stadium and call it The Coca Cola Stadium, or perhaps offer them the opportunity to sponsor the roof on the stand so that when the flights are coming into the Airport on that flight path they would be visible. Go for it Wayne!
Whoa Whoa Whoa sweet child a’mine! Pete, did you have to make that suggestion - I can see another 40 posts coming on and a lot more head banging.
Coca-Cola have sponsored sport for years, they were the first sponsor of the Olympics in 1928 and every one since, they sponsor the World Cup, and English Football at many levels. Criticising Witton Albion for accepting sponsorship money from the company is frankly one of the most small minded and idiotic suggestions to ever appear on this board.
As individuals everyone can make choices regards the products they wish to buy and those that they don’t. My point regards Fair Trade Coffee production did not even attract a reaction! The point being there are hundreds of examples of environmentally damaging and commercially irresponsible practices that take place around the globe - at the same time there are an equal number of myths and rumours that are nothing other than that.
I hope Chris when you drive (heavens forbid) from Birmingham you do so an LPG hybrid vehicle or better still use public transport or even better a bicycle! How on earth you can continue to take a monthly salary from an educational establishment supported by Cadbury’s is completely beyond me! A chocolate company supporting a school is 10 times worse than a soft drinks company supporting a football club!!! I trust you will be refusing to accept their money at the end of this month (this is what you suggest Witton do), I can’t possibly see how accepting your salary is nothing but blatant hypocrisy!
Spare a thought for those poor fans of Leicester that play at the Walkers Stadium who must be clinically obese given all the bags of cheese and onion, salt and vinegar and ready sallted they have to consume - or the poor Everton fans that now drink nothing other than Chang Thai beer!!!
I don’t work for the school sponsored by Cadbury’s I just live near it. I do use a bus every day to get to school but I also own a car. I am a member of Greenpeace and I do try to buy organic meat but when drunk I have been known to eat a kebab. To get to Witton matches I generally go by train but I have been on several planes (not to watch Witton obviously). I am flawed and I do not hold other people or institutions to impossible moral standards. However, I think my point was one worth raising and I certainly did not consider it small minded or idiotic. Incidentally, don’t get me started on Bacardi…
I really think we have flogged this subject to death now, lets get back to the main point of this topic and that is trying to raise much needed revenue for OUR club, It would be a great idea if someone objected to a certain company being a sponsor came forward with an alternative, or just came forward fullstop every penny is vital now…
Not into the rights and wrongs of coca cola there are worse companies than them sponsoring sport!! As long as it goes into the coffers of Witton albion FC I’m not going to worry too much.
[br]Posted on: November 30, 2007, 03:16:10 PM
Sorry went off half cocked before I’d typed this in. As part of this post Wayne talked about trying to get local companies involved and that is great. I remember a few years back Pritch and Eddie Phillips going round and getting quite a lot of sponsorship. So Wayne it might be worth a chat with Pritch and certainly Eddie Phillips as I’m sure they may have a lot of contacts. I really like the way you are approaching this Wayne with enthusiasm and a professional manner. This is just a thought that might save some time so disregard obviously if its no good but Eddie is quite a well known figure round northwich and he might open up a few avenues with his local knowledge.
Think thats a great suggestion re Pritch and Eddie, i am aware that Pritch has mention to The Wincham Rabbit that he has info that maybe useful to the new WorkParty, will folow up at Mondays Workparty Meeting. Thanks for all your kind comments I have been bitten by the Witton Bug and i am having a really enjoyable time working WITH everybody, im very proud to head this up for OUR Club. Great to see that we see the commercial dept as a Golden Opportunity. Wayne Peach. Arsenal better keep a watch over their shoulder as Witton are on their way.
As a part-time watcher of Weymouth (my girldfriend is a fan) I have noticed they have had a similar brainstorming thread with some ideas for raising revenue. A summary of the best points can be found here:
Not all the points would be applicable to Witton, but I think a really great idea would be to assemble a database of supporters details if at all possible. This would enable us to market to the core fans with newsletters/club shop items etc.
In addition, the more ‘floating’ supporters we get on the database, the harder we can market to them and make them feel guilty about not coming to games! Obviously the data protection act would need to be considered, but if we have details of supporters, it will be so much easier to market to them.
Hi Laurence_Tonkin, thanks for the link to the Weymouth site, have read with real interest and was please to see alot of their ideas we are currently working on, but will explore the fans data base as a great way of keeping all fans informed and to help them still feel apart of our club even if they can not get to the games. Thanks for you support Wayne Peach
