Curzon Ashton vs Witton Albion(Doodson Cup QF)

Witton team news & latest score updates will appear here as and when they become available.

No team news as yet but the kick off delayed by 15 minutes to 8pm.

I hear its because Curzon are saying Powell has already played for them in a previous round of the Doodson Cup…

He did, against Lancaster in first round

Witton Team:

Stuart Plant, Anthony Gardner, Jamie Harrison, Ben Harrison, Josh Horne, Anthony Sheehan, Josh Hancock, Joe Shaw, Olly James, Steve Foster, Ashworth.

Subs: Shaun Tuck, Mike Moseley, Danny Andrews, Matt Cooper

Ashworth? Powell in disguise?

It’s the youngster that Nigel brought and he came on as a sub earlier in the season.

Latest Score from The Tameside Stadium:

Curzon Ashton 0 Witton Albion 1.

Joe Shaw puts the Albion ahead on 29 minutes.

If this is correct then that will render tonight’s game meaningless. FC Utd will surely have to be reinstated, and play against Curzon.

Josh Hancock doubles the lead from the spot on 40 minutes - Paul Booth sent off for deliberate handball.

Maybe this was the idea all along, give FCUM another fixture to add to there already busy league run in giving us a better play off chance!

Cracking result, fingers crossed that we get to play the semi…

Thought we played some really good football last night. Some great passing moves on what can only be described as a poor surface. Thought Ashworth fitted in very well he looks very promising. Also glad to see Jamie back playing had a great game at left back.

I wasn’t there last night, but am intrigued to know why we went ahead and played a game that to all intents and purposes is irrelevant? Is it a case of ‘Good old Witton’ again?

The rules are there for all to see and playing an illegible player will and should result in one course of action-expulsion .

For the league to say play the game and we will decide later, is toothless and rather like your parents saying ‘We’ll see’ when you ask them for something.

From the match report two defenders got injured/withdrawn and another 90 minutes more on the clock for the squad - ‘Good old Witton!’
