Sorry to get back on topic, think England have done will the limits of the players they have, would be suprised to go much further but if the team spirit is as good as it looks who knows, need gerrard and rooney at there best really, not impressed with wingers or Wellbeck so far.
apparently David Moyes has made a statement to say that he has no intention of going to Tottenham and is ready to bring European football back to Goodison Park next season.
I noticed Moyes has been a pundit at a few of the Euro games, is he packing a few dvds of the games in his suitcase? C’mon Greece
Moyes is not interested because he has not been asked and if Bale and Modric do leave whoever takes over will have a big pile of money to spend on replacements, does Moyes have that at Goodison? Have to say I watched Germany, they look like winners. As for England if we go with Carroll, Rooney, Walcott and Chamberlain I think we can stuff the Italians, not sure if we go with Young, Milner and Wellbeck, though I think Wellbeck is one for the future and the not too distant future at that.

WHS have to agree with every word for a change!! Spurs are weighing up options, Moyes is on the list but not a fans favourite, probably never will be, they’re looking for a more positive manager he might not be the right one lets see when the bigger names come into the frame and make decisions then. Don’t think everton fans should be disappointed anyway as he’s gonna move on to a bigger club oneday he’s took them as far as he can.
As for england lets do the Italians on Sun, then the germans, then whoever in the final. WAFC, THFC and ENGLAND till i die!
WHS this coming from a man that put £10 on Spurs to win the league at the beginning of the season, CUCKOO! :silly: Lets just see what Tottenham do next season without Modric etc, Tottenham are a (Vinny) sideways step for Moyes in my opinion.
Everton are Everton with or without Moyes, we all know that he is just waiting for old whisky nose to drop off his perch before he takes the Manure job, then when he does ‘good luck’ to him, but he isn’t gonna risk his reputation and work under Levy who has ruined managers reputations in the past with his over ambitious ideas for what he believes Tottenham can achieve, Harry Redknapp finished 4th and not for the Chelsea miracle in the Champions League Tottenham would have been in it themselves, better the devil you know
Anyway, COME ON ENGLAND! A draw and England to wins on penalties I think!?
At 40-1 it wasn’t a bad bet until the last “few furlongs”! At least I put my money where my mouth is. Despite our not having a wad of money to splash I intend to have £10 on Witton to win the league, half any winnings to the team bonus, why not join me? As for England I see only Germany as a big threat, Spain may struggle against the French.

The FA don’t deserve to have a successful England team. Simple as that
It’s about time they stopped lording it over the game and pumped more of the wealth into grass roots football and stop punishing clubs who are trying to play the game in the spirit of football
The FA are all fat cats living off the cream that we give them.
League football is corrupt and lacks competition. It also fais to give English footballers the chancehey deserve. Until the FA redress the balance and invest in English football instead of lining their own pockets and stomachs we will always have a squad of underachievers.
I think the majority of fans would agree with you rabbit, you only have to look at the number of england fans that have gone. Its the first tournament I can remember that England fans have been outnumbered/outsung at games we usually take the most fans to every tournament (well european ones anyway). Think this reflects many peoples current view on the FA and football at the top level generally.
I agree, far too many foreign players in our game, it stops good young English players getting a chance. I can remember when we dominated European football without having to sign so many foreigners, good God, even Aston Villa won it! Several of the present England squad cannot get a regular game with their clubs and that cannot be right. How do they gain experience if they are not playing? AS for the FA, they pinched the Premier League from the Football League and made it a financial success but ruined the competition in doing so, only money matters now. We see some great football but as only three or four clubs can ever win the Premier League the competition is badly flawed.
As for the supporters numbers being down I think that had more to do with the perception that England had no chance and the recession.
WHS.
Really high costs in ukraine/poland also added to lost crowds, if the team start playing together and knuckle down sing the anthem and show a bit of pride then im behind them except perhaps terry who seems to be an A**E and should not be there imo
The recession has hit all the countries, some are far worse off than ours. Me and a couple of my mates were thinking of going but decided our money would be better off spent elsewhere. I’ll always support England but gone are the days the players are my “heroes” as they used to be in mexico 86, italia 90 etc.
It was the pinnacle to play for england in those days, some players not wanting to play for their country, the silly amounts they get paid by thier clubs, and the current economic climate are major factors why so few have travelled to the Ukraine. I think many have fallen out of love with england over the last few years.
Exactly. People like terry, ashley cole and gary neviile who think they’re above england put me off spending my hard earned cash going to watch them. Think alot of england fans share that view hence another reason why many have stayed at home.

And GERRARD is not then CJ ?
I intend to have £10 on Witton to win the league, half any winnings to the team bonus, why not join me?
Thats a good plan why not actually do this and collect money from as many people as you can and put a large bet on? If its a go-er you can count on me
rabbitsopinion as always is bang on the money again with his post, but saying that its not the England teams fault for the FA I do honestly believe that this group of players at the minute are the nearest in terms of togetherness since the team of Euro '96, think having an Englishman in charge is very much to do with this. The big time charlie’s Gerrard, Rooney, Terry etc who were allowed to run the England camps in the past and spend more time being celebrities than footballers has been stamped out with crediting having to go to Roy Hodgson.
As for the fans I do believe money is an issue, but also the Ukraine and Poland fans who were documented on Sky Sports saying that any England fan who travels is likely to be killed didn’t help.
COME ON ENGLAND!
Eli,
no i dont think Gerrard is an Ae nor some of the other England players, he has probaably made a couple of horror tackles in his time lumped a DJ but I dont know the whole story, but he does not come across as conceited/arrogant and full of himself - like Terry nor is he racist imo so i think gerrard is a fine England captain and a great player who gibves avalue fro money even if it is obscene, id compare him to Rooney who was a Ae but seems to be growing up a a bit now and looks a better player for it, i suppose its hard not to be effected when you have so much so young, but with people like terry they start off arrogant and get worse. rant over
jonnyamery, I will take your tip and at the first friendly I can get to I will see if I can collect some money to put on the lads. It would be a great incentive to the team, imagine 100 people, £5 each at 10-1, that would £5,000 into a pool for the players, not bad at all. Anyway, worth pursuing. As for England players, yes they are massively overpaid, (I was told a few years ago that every player in the England squad was a millionaire!) Still, not their fault they are overpaid and I do think that most if not all the present squad are really committed to the England cause rather than just seeing it as a money making exercise.
WHS.
Fair point re Gerrard. I just wish he’d stop talking about “We can still win the league” when they are 28 points off the top in February
Well if we weren’t aware of it before we are now. The only reason a lot of our players look good at their clubs is because they are playing with great foreign players. We were TOTALLY outclassed for 110 of the 120 minutes. Not one England player apart from the two centre backs looked remotely up to the ability of the Italians including Gerrard and Rooney. Where do we go from here? Personally I have no idea because apart from a couple of possibilities this was the best squad of players we have.
I believe until we stop importing so many foreign players into our league we will continue to fail at international level. How many ENGLISH players will play in the Champions League next season? If it is more than a dozen I will be very surprised and that cannot be good for any hopes we might have of giving our younger players experience at that kind of level. Rant over, the players on the pitch gave it their best shot, they are sadly simply not good enough. Perhaps we should be grateful we lost the penalty shoot out, lord only knows what the Germans would have done to us!
WHS.
Simply outclassed by a far superior team tonight but we can only put out the best we’ve got. To get through the group was an achievement in itself imo. We’re not a world class country at football, never have been and never likely to be, apart from 66 when have we ever won anything? Still i’d rather that than bring in foreigners to win things as we seem to do in cricket and rugby these days
Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say ‘we were beaten by a better team’, think the key to the game was they had Pirlo as their holding midfielder controlling the game and we had Scott Parker  and then Jordan Henderson :silly:, the game was lost in the midfield in my opinion Young and Milner/Walcott could have easily stayed in the changing rooms as they were abysmal!
Anyway lets move onto the Evo Stik Premier League now :cheer:
