…I certainly remember Mr Lillis as captian…and laying into him at Runcorn away, was it a cup game? I remember the Grand National result being circulated at half time! anyway humble apologies to the aformentioned Mr Lillis, I may have been a little harsh! And good luck to Morecambe in thier fight against relegation!
That would be the F.A Trophy Semi-final 1st leg at Canal Street. (An F.A. Trophy Semi-final between Witton and Runcorn…Those were the days!)
It was the day of the Grand National that never was - “won” by Esha Ness but made void because of a false start.
Shaun Whalley to Skem
Danny Adams to Nantwich
Fraser Ablett to Skem
Shaun Whalley to Skem ? he would have been a great signing for us how did he end up at Skem can they outbid us now on gates of 100
Agree CJ - but he obviously thinks he will be playing in the premier division with Skem next season ?
According to the NonLeague website, Skem have taken three players from Southport as back up to their squad. The respective players will stay at Southport unless Skem make the Play-Offs and then they will be brought into play.
Looks guaranteed that Skem will make the play-offs anyway that’s if they don’t nick the title!
Former Albion Full Back Liam Brownhill has left Droylsden and signed a 2 year deal with Chester FC.
Could Chris Gaghan be on his way back ?
Chester have signed Alex Brown from Droylsden and Mark Reed from Buxton. There are rumours on Chester’s forum that Scott Barlow has joined Colwyn Bay. Could that mean that a certain Titch could be on his way out I wonder!
News on the Evo-Stik website that Scott Barlow has left Chester but signed for Mossley and not Colwyn Bay as was first rumoured.
Hopeful that you guys out there won’t judge me as bein to critical but some wittoners seem to be a little obsessed with getting former players back. I think that we should look to the future and never backwards. I feel quite up beat about the new season and carn’t wait for it to start with the crop of young players that have already pledged their immediate future with the Albs despite attraction from higher up elsewhere’s (plural rather than singular) ++++ subject to the appropriate permissions from the Chairman and ground staffs etc I might try and organise some half time entertainment this coming season a bit like Crewe Alex do at HT (bring on their youngsters for a small sided game etc, the Crewe fans love it!!! I’m sure that there are a number of local schools who would participate and the Alex might send some youngsters down? Any views out there? SBL
As an ex junior mgr I think its a great idea, chad used to do a fair bit and it was great maybe once or twice a month, we need to really look after the kids though and make sure they enjoy it all the way through, look forward to seeing this happen.
On the ex players bit im not that keen myself but you will not get out of this league with youngsters from a lower level, you can mix 2 or 3 in with proven experience and have a mix on the bench that might work well in two ways plenty of enthusiasm and a positive link to the youth and helps keep the budget in check.
I hope it does come off, as it is a great idea, although I might miss having my half-time pint of low calorie pint of guiness.
Former Albion goalkeeper Joe Palladino has been appointed manager of Congleton Town.
Fond memories of Guissepe on our trip to Wembley in 1992. Hope he does well at Congleton
Depends on how much sparring he gets at Congleton.
Good guy Joey, cannot see many squaring up to him in training would not like to be on the recieving end of one of his punches ? not heard his name for a while wonder if he has been involved at the lower level under the radar ?
Saw him last season when he came to wincham park.Looks the same albeit slightly on the heavier side.
not heard his name for a while wonder if he has been involved at the lower level under the radar ?

Former Albion midfielder Steve Connors has left Fleetwood and the North-West, to sign a two year deal at Cambridge United.
