Former Players

Didn’t last long there did he. To be honest I never rated him that highly when he was with us, but if my memory is correct he scored a great free kick.

In the Non-League Paper’s report of the Warrington Town match yesterday a certain Tom Spearritt was the Star Man. Good to see he has settled well at his new club.

Vodkat North West Counties League Division One club Newcastle Town have added former Witton Albion midfielder Alastair Brown to their squad.

Manager Greg Clowes (pictured) drove to Warrington to clinch the deal for Brown, who has been taken off contract by UniBond League Division One North outfit Bradford Park Avenue.

Brown was with Witton when he enjoyed loan spell with `Castle last season, and Clowes said: “Ally is an exciting player on the right side and a fantastic addition to the squad.”

Shaun Whalley scored for Accrington on Sunday as they lost 4-1 to Rochdale, despite Whalley opening the scoring.

Meanwhile, Nick Farquharson, who has been in excellent scoring form for the Dabbers, has agreed to join Blue Square North side Nuneaton Borough until the end of season.

Despite Nantwich officials` attempt to persuade him to remain on loan at The Weaver Stadium until the end of season, the desire to play at a higher level has taken him to the Warwickshire club.

The following ex-albion players have been released from BPA:

Gaghan,Clegg,Griff Jones, Mark Jones and Lee

Will we see any of them back at Wincham Park???

However, Worsnop, Connors, Hockenhall and Moseley will all be returning to Wincham Park next season but unfortunately in BPA colours!!

If they were offered more money last season with BPA than us, then I doubt they will be coming back with our new budget!!

Not sure any of them would be welcome either!

Gaghan is possibly the only one from the list that could do a job for us, although to be honest any player that leaves purely for the cash might well do the same again. There is not much loyalty around in football unfortunately.

Middlesbrough are leading the race to sign Crewe’s £1m-rated striker Nicky Maynard. (Daily Mirror)

Danylyk signs for Altrincham!

Very surprised by that signing on the basis he couldn’t get into our team last year, also did very little in the subsequent games against us!

Maybe they know something we don’t!

Rumour has it Griff Jones has signed for FCUM…

FCIM

:stuck_out_tongue:

Hahahahaha!!!

Griff is a fantastic player but unfortunately lets himself down a little with his fitness. Having left us twice I doubt we’d have him back and its a shame because on his day and fully fit he is undoubtly a class act!!

Shaun Whalley has been released by Accrington (surprisingly)

and has signed for wrexham!

:pinch: Not sure that this has been confirmed yet, but Griff was spotted playing for Radcliffe Boro at the end of last season, and was reportedly looking a bit ‘chunky’.

He’s lost weight then

Speaking of former players. Alty have signed a left back from Halifax so Liam Brownhills dream looks to be over and if he does still go he is sure to be keeping that bench nice and warm, haha!!!

To be honest, i don’t think that Liam will be short of clubs to choose from even if Alty pull out. I think Vics and Fleetwood may be interested, aswell as the (unofficial) Head Of Player Recruitment at Droylsden - whoever that may be.

Liam is pretty much guaranteed a higher level of football on an improved wage.

The impression i get is that Liam, and others associated with him, are fed up of the negative press. Personally i think it is time that all concerned just let the matter rest. Liam has gone, as 100s of other players have over the years. It is only the fact that he was a good player that keeps us interested in him.

I think it’s best to remember Liam for the blockbuster he scored against Buxton at Christmas (a mis-hit cross that flew in…), and forget that his own-goal at Hednesford may of cost us promotion…only joking! (or am i?!).

I urge everyone just to let it go now. The same with Peers, Warlow, Alex Brown, and whoever else. There is enough to deal with at Witton at the moment without dwelling on player departures for any longer than is absolutely necessary.

If anyone has any frustrations that they need to work out of their system then can i suggest you join Pritch at the Club one evening to help get it ready for August? Failing that, you could use your writing fingers to post words of thanks and encouragement to GE in the hope of convincing him that Witton Albion needs him.

It’s a shame that players who (almost?) acheived so much at our Club have left under a massive cloud. These guys should have left with their heads held high, safe in the knowledge that they would be welcomed back to WP at any time in the future. That doesn’t look like being the case anymore, so i suggest we put all our energy to good use supporting the Club rather than wasting time continuously opening old wounds.
