Phil Chad will be pleased to hear that Neil Parsley is back in meaningful employment, as he has been appointed caretaker manager at Farsley Celtic.

Adam Morning has been released by Halifax and has now joined New Mills

Former Fulham, Birmingham and West Brom striker Geoff Horsfield has revealed he is suffering from testicular cancer.

The 34-year-old, who was released by Sheffield United last summer, has been forced to retire as a result and will undergo surgery next week.

He told the Daily Mirror: "I was diagnosed last Friday and Iā€™m going in for surgery next Thursday.

ā€œThe surgeon has told me that this is the end of my professional career, but thatā€™s at the back of my mind now.ā€

Horsfield began his career at Scarborough in 1992, and his scoring exploits at Halifax earned him a Ā£300,000 move to Fulham in 1996.

He said: "Iā€™ve had 10 good years with Fulham, Birmingham, Wigan, West Brom and all the other clubs Iā€™ve played for and enjoyed it.

ā€œBut all Iā€™m thinking about now is beating this. Iā€™ve always been a fighter right through my football career and Iā€™m going to fight this and win.ā€

Horsfield has been told he has a good chance of recovery after the diagnosis was made early.

ā€œThe specialist told me I did well to find the lump because it is so small,ā€ he added.

Horsfield, who finished last season on loan at Scunthorpe, had been training recently with League One Walsall.

The Barnsley-born forward has also played for Wigan, Leeds and Leicester.

AND WITTON!

Best wishes to Geoff, letā€™s hope he gets through it.

Best of luck Geoff!

I do remember you as a fighter, especially the time you had me pinned up against the Social Club wall, because I didnā€™t have a wage packet for you!

Thanks to Colin Rose for pulling you off, and sending you to Ray Ranson to explain why you wernā€™t getting paid.

Iā€™ve followed your career ever since, and I honestly hope its not over.

Noticed the dozzler scored for stafford todayā€¦

However, Johnson is determined to bring in some new blood and is currently on the trail of ex-Nantwich defender Paul Donnelly who has been told he can leave Witton following Boothā€™s signing.

just copied above off leeks weekly news.

looks like one in an one out.
and shake it alll about, you do the hokey cokey . whoops sorrrrrrrry.:stuck_out_tongue:

donners has been the only defender who has performed at all this season AND hes been playing out of position. KEEP HIM ON GARY!!!

Gary clearly thinks that he can bring in someone better, and to do that he first needs to move players on who he doesnā€™t rate. I think fullback has been a problem position for about a month now.

Mark Jones, Griff Jones and Mark Drew on duty for Radcliffe borough this afternoon.

Two other former Wittoners on the move are winger/midfielder Sam McNutt who has joined Holker Old Boys from Welsh club GAP Connahs Quay, while defender Tom Spearritt has signed for Colwyn Bay from Warrington Town.

Nicky Maynard has just equalised for Bristol City against Wolves.

Former Albion midfielder Steve Connors has left Bradford Park Avenue to join Blue Square North Fleetwood Town.

If itā€™s Fleetwood Town heā€™s going to you never know we may still be getting him on loan in the future

I liked Steve when he was at Witton but think there may be a possibility that he may suffer in the future from his recent injury.

Even better if Steve signing for Fleetwood means we can have Ashley Dunn backā€¦
