I do not know how true it is but have heard today that Spearritt and Gaghan have left.
This is worrying.
Is it true?
Would somebody please enlighten us? ???
I think u will find it is true V
As i have said elsewhere shows what a good manager JV is.
eligorton i dont quite understand youre comment, much as jimmy vince is a great manager! i mean come on we all know hes better than mourinho! but i really do believe gaghan is a great asset to this club! so to let him go mite be a mistake, same goes for spearritt who is a great defender! interestin to see what everybody else thinks?
really hope you are not leavin chris, but if you are could you please put a post on here so that we can tell you how much we think of you and thank you for all that you have done for the club. Letting super mike, tom and chris go- how on earth does this show what a good manager j.v. is? there a few others who i feel should have been let go first. ???
Not disputing what u say Witton Mad Scad but managers manage and supporters support.
Can i just extend my offer to all departing players;
If you would like to give us a suitable ‘thank you’ then feel free to come down and have a game with the supporter’s team. Failing that, then come down and watch and have a beer with us after the game.
eligorton you are clearly an idiot.
Idiot I may be Greenie but the manager knows the right time for players to go - theres no place for sentiment in football -just ask Alex Ferguson.
Brilliantly said Stu - join the club .
He must have a plan. If he doesn’t have a plan, I suggest now would be an outstanding time to think of one. There are only a finite amount of players at this level and good ones aren’t available long.
Unusual as this may be I agree with the point Stu is making! LOL
We have no cause at the moment not to keep faith with the gaffer. The quality of the football at Fortress Wincham last year was outstanding and in my opinion of a much better quality than the league we are in. I think Jim deserves a great deal of credit for this. Clearly last season was also a learning exercise for Jim too and I am sure he has a plan (or as Greenie states, now would be a really good time to come up with one) ;D
Jim and the club did benefit last year from a good squad of players and personally speaking I would not like to see too many departures from the first team. We may be able to release one or two who struggled to find a place last year but in the most part I would like to see the team kept together. My main concern would be that if we have say 6 or 8 changes in key positions we will spend the first half of the season learning how to play together - remember it was not until the end of October (when Kennedy arrived) that it started to gel.
I think in Pritch, Kearney and Brownhill we have three excellent defenders. Brown, Lloyd, Connors and Peers are important across midfield. Griff the only real striker left (with Moseley, Warlow and Farquharson gone).
The above assumes that the original post is correct and that Gaghan and Spearitt have departed, I have not spoken to anyone that has confirmed this yet. If they have gone then I wish both of them the best of luck, two very nice lads and in my opinion they would have been worth hanging on to. That said, if Jim does want to bring fresh players into the club then by default he will have to release some - with the playing budget available you cannot keep adding without making some sacrifices. Unlike the premiership we don’t quite operate in the same world where 30 to 40 in the first team squad is affordable. I believe last season Jim set his stall out to work with a squad of 20 and I doubt that this year will be too different? So simple maths says players in = players out!
I personally still believe that Connors is a big personality who could do a tremendous job for us next year. A lot will depend on Steve himself and if he wants to be at Witton, if he does and he focuses on what he is capable of then the lad could have a big season.
As I said at the outset right now Jim has earnt our support and belief, therefore I think we should back him. I was gutted for Moseley to go and really believe that at 28 with his record we should have kept hold, but it is Jim’s team - it is his job to shape the team for a promotion push next season. It will not be easy and we will not always agree with the decisions made! I am however pleased that he is dealing with departures swifty and making decisions so that we can have a good pre-season. Our style of football last year will have attracted a few to the club hopefully. Remember Kearney chose to join us and has huge potential, we may get one or two more in from Crewe (which will help) and there are some good players at the likes of Kidsgrove, Leek and Eastwood all perhaps worth looking at. Plus our assistant manager is a very smart guy with excellent connections.
At this stage whilst we all perhaps have one or two concerns let Jim do the job that we have given him to do!
Well said Rabbit - look forward to reading your jottings in next seasons programme.
Sorry boys if my one liners are misunderstood .
A friend tells me that Jim has been in contact with a few people already…
Did the conversation go along the lines of "Greenie, have you got any boots son and are you free on Saturdays"
;D ;D ;D
Hey! We’ll not be having any of my players tapped up!!!
If Jim wants to approach them, then he can contact me through the correct channels and we’ll discuss the appropriate compensation package
Alternatively, he can have Yox and Stu for nothing ;D
Just so supporters know what Jim is up against BPA (aka Benny Phillips Albion) have contacted several of the Albion Squad to play for them next season. Some players have approached BPA to go there.
It appears (not confirmed) that Messrs Gaghan, Ally Brown, Griff Jones, Darren Hockenhull have all agreed terms with BPA.
They have also put an offer forward for Connors which, as in all offers for players, is being considered by the Board.
Oh, and WP (that’s Wayne Porter not Wincham Park - although they might want that as well!!) is their new Assistant Manager.
GE
Unfortunately not, although Benny has been on the phone to ask if Lennon and McCartney can write some songs for BPA ;D ;D ;D
Stu, Chelsea have signed half of Europe but it counted for very little!!! Building a team of ex-albion fringe players will not guarantee anything. They should perhaps however chnage their name to Bradford Park Albion!
It is a shame if one or two of the players listed have moved on as certainly a couple of them would have been good to hang on to. Again, the nature of football is that out-of-contract players are free to move wherever they want to and if they get a good financial offer and assurances of a first team place then that is what they will do! It is the same as anyone in their work life moving from one company to another for a better paid job! But remember the grass is not always greener (although given the state of our pitch maybe it is)! Before anyone replies with the "why did we not have them under contract" response, remember that this is as limiting as it is beneficial, you can end up being ‘stuck’ with players for a lengthy period who are not part of the first team. You put those under contract who you believe are valuable assets both from a playing perspective and future transfer value. Although again we have to get the balance right.
As for Benny, tut tut! Hardly the most creative approach to building a new team and a little innappropriate given the relationship you had with the club - remember you would not have been offered the job at all if it were not for the good season we were having! Why didn’t you pick up on a few of the players our chief scout had identified as potential prospects (or maybe that’s the problem, he didn’t)? At least you have done us one big favour by taking him with you! The problem is that by burning bridges you find you can never get back to the other side (profound Rabbit!).
All the best to the lads that have moved on and thanks for your efforts whilst with the club - again some decent lads who worked hard whilst they were here and I wish them all the best. As for Connors, I hope the board hold out to keep him but a lot depends on his head/heart - if he wants to stay then I personally think we should keep him, he could have a big season and command our midfield, but only if he wants to?
As I said yesterday, we have to back the manager to make the right decisions on the side he builds for next season. We cannot be held to ransom regards wage demands and if players want to go then it is generally better to let them rather than keeping someone who is unhappy in the squad!

Even I could pen this one … "Are you Witton in disguise"?
If Connors is so ambitious as to drop down a league for nothing more than financial gain, then fair enough. Hopefully it is all rumour though and he’ll stick around. Wasn’t too long ago the talk was of him moving up to Conference level.
Can’t understand Griff and Hockenhull dropping down a league, except for financial gain, the others fair enough as they were fringe players. They played in a team that missed out on the title by 1 goal and have an excellent chance of winning the league next season. Bradford PA may be an ambitous club but it would take them two seasons to get to the CN. It may only take us one.
I would question the way in which it was done, if they were contract players then surely there has been some rule breaking in the way they were tapped up.
As for our Head Scout, thankfully he isn’t going to besat on OUR bench week in week out.
