Gerrard: is he bad for Liverpool?

Agree with many of the comments under that. Too many hollywood balls. Still capable of game winning strikes though. Dalglish is a bigger problem imho, now the initial buzz has gone. They need a new manager :tinhat:

Stat of the week though:

[quote]Lucas Leiva who, remarkably, has still made more tackles than anybody else in the Liverpool squad this season despite having been injured since November

Time, that is all that any manager needs but few get.
WHS.

It’s been pretty well documented that Gerrard’s tactical and positional play isn’t his strong point. Very much like the article said, he should be allowed to roam around the pitch. He produced his best season statistically in 2005/06 when Rafa played him for large parts of the season on the right. Also, his form when he sat just behind Torres throughout 2008 and 2009 was magnificent.

Lucas is a arguably a bigger player for Liverpool than Gerrard these days. I remember when he first came he was largely criticized by sections of The Kop, although he has blossomed into a brilliant player. It’s no coincidence form has dropped since he got injured.

I have heard this argument from several Liverpool fans.

The same type of argument used to surround Brendan Burke at times. Brendan was always at his best when given a free role to roam the pitch anywhere he liked. However, this was not always to the managers liking, as it dictated the tactics and formation for all the other players in the team, and as such, if Brendan had a good day, then so did Witton. However, if Brendan had a bad day then so did Witton.
Thankfully, Brendan had more good days than bad.

For me, I hope Gerrard plays on Saturday, and doen’t have a good day, especially like the last one he had against us(Everton).

Ha ha ha ha! And that statement just goes to show where Liverpool have now set their standards, Lucas is average at best and he is in a long line Carroll, Henderson, Adam, Downing of average at Anfield!

In Dalglish we trust give him as much time as he wants!

COYB! on Saturday we(Everton) will beat Liverpool!

Well he WAS the only innocent one at the Lounge Inn…and when they have to dispence with the services of King Kenny they ARE NOT having Pritch!

‘Gerrard Tries Too Many Hollywood Passes!’

In other breaking news, ‘Transatlantic Cruise Liner sinks after collision with iceberg’, seriously whilst there are some good points made, like left pegger says, its hardly new news.

And yeah, all managers need time but that’s not something that woy hodgson was afforded, Kenny ‘sugar puff teeth’ has taken an albeit average squad, spent some serious money and taken that team backwards

I bet he plays in the semi final and I bet they win!!

I stand by my (and many, many other’s) opinion.

One of our worst seasons for a long time and still only a point behind Everton. You must be so proud :woohoo:

Ha ha another deluded Kopite who has no idea of football its not the 1980’s anymore your a never gonna win a League Title again (oh and Witton don’t play at the Central Ground anymore just to let you know) you had a good season last season and finished 4 points ahead of Everton you must be so proud ha ha! :woohoo:

To be fair, 60% of last season was bloody awful, hence changing the manager in January.

Surely by that reckoning ‘king kenny’ has to go then?
Think the main problem Liverpool have is there fans expectation levels. No longer one of the big boys but they cant except that. Europa league is the best they can hope for the considerable future.

Gloating Mancs Beware, soon Fergie with his teamm of refs will be gone and king kenny will be strong, LFCs owners have shown they want winners, remember too after Busby, O farrel, docherty and denis law with back heel together with relegation  and Gerrard is the best player of his generation, if he had played for the Manc Scum you would be treating him as a god now as you currently do for less talented scouser

Actually i think it’s quite the opposite. Liverpool fans are realistic as to where we are at the moment, which is why the only people saying Kenny should go are non-Liverpool fans.

Strange really?

Liverpool will undoubtedly “Come again” and I expect them to beat Everton on Sunday. As a Spurs fan I recognise that the league is FINALLY getting tighter and the new rules on spending will ensure no one club can suddenly spend vast amounts of money to gain the upper hand as first Blackburn then Chelsea then City have done. (United cannot spend as freely as their owners have “Put then in hock” for millions of pounds.)
WHS.

Will they? We have heard its are year next year for 2 decades now. People are questioning kenny because it’s a results business and he hasn’t delivered especially with all the money he spent. If woy had all that money Liverpool would be in a better position than they are now. By all means managers need time but a line has to be drawn at some point.

Liverpool havn’t got a chance of beating Everton on Sunday…they play on Saturday!

They won’t win owt with KD in charge. Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Andy Carroll, players who are only fit to grace a mid table premier league club. Bring back the fat spanish waiter, at least he won something more substantial than the Carling “Micky Mouse” Cup.

Gerrard should have kept his bottle and gone to Chelsea when he had the chance. Oh well another 5yrs of Europa League Action to look forward to then in between “massive” domestic cup games as well as the usual league struggle to finish in the top 6.
