Ground share

With 2012 Winsford game off again a few comment on there forum and on facebook about the possibility of talking to us about a share, rather than Winsford ! for Me I think we are done with sharing and should move on and I dont think giving them an easy route back into town is a good thing- with V**S it was only ever going to be short term until they went bust or got kicked out of the league, the rental they would pay is not worth the hassle and will bring a more dangerous enemy too close.

I totally agree. Other clubs manage on less than us.
WHS.

Scared of the competition C J ??

I for one would not be against a ground share with 1874. I was totally against a ground share with the other lot as they have nothing to do with th erogue called rush. 1874 is a team run by honest supporters and genuine rivalry would be welcome. So if this comes on the agenda i suggest Witton fans are asked for their views on the subject and this to be taken into account.Like I said before i would be in favour of this sort of arrangement, it would give us extra revenue and what would be wrong in having a working relationship with 1874.
It would be interesting to hear other fans opinion on the subject of ground sharing.

You’re not our competition yet col.
Maybe one day but not yet

Its a no brainer for me, a definite Yes to a groundshare with 1874 for the following reasons
A, We must need the money as wages have been cut and with falling attendances there’s no hope of the rot stopping anytime soon.

B, 1874 will help our groundstaff! They currently have volunteers who work on the pitch at Winsford and they have said this would continue should they move to Witton.
Sprucie is desperate for help and this would be a massive help.

C, They have a lot more support than Vics so the Social Club would benefit massively, with all bar profits coming to Witton Albion then this would again be a huge bonus

Lets not bury our heads in the sand, we have to at least consider this option

I agree with Matt on this one, extra money and extra help with the pitch seems like a no brainer.

We could also look at a long term deal so we can make a long term plan. They run a pretty successful beer festival so we could look at combining it with our own split the costs and split the profit. If we develop our working relationship with them there is no reason it couldn’t be beneficial for both clubs friendly rivalry could attract more local sponsorship deals. We have a great facility in our ground why not fully utilise it?

I think that 1874 are committed to play at Winsford for at least one more season - so for a club run by honest supporters to break that agreement makes them unsuitable tenants IMO

No not scared of the competition Blackie just dont want to help them - anyway thought you were a Vs fan again ? 2012 Winsford were approached 3 times to ground share before Vs and rebuffed the approaches so SOD EM.

For me personally a massive no no! If we don’t have two teams playing on the pitch then why would need extra staff? And the money they could pay £300 isn’t worth turning the lights on. Your being manipulated into thinking this is a good idea in my opinion.
Maybe a realistic budget set at the start of the season maybe a better idea?

We shared with Linnets for a few years, I assume if we got a similar price off 1874 then it would be worthwhile?

I personally think we should look into this if a suitable cost can be agreed for both parties. Anyway all this would be a while off as they are committed to Winsford next season.

There’s a lot of contradiction here from spectators who don’t want to ground share, but don’t come to the games anyway for a variety of reasons, most of which vary depending on which way the wind is blowing at the time.

WP is a big facility that needs investment and revenue to keep it going, irrespective of the team on the pitch. IF 1874 are in a position to negotiate ground share then it needs to be considered.

I have missed 3 home games in the last 5 years? And I oppose this massively, don’t understand the whole fans who go games have bigger and better opinions, do you not see 1874/2012 are now our biggest fans and want to be all best mates because Winsford isn’t working out for them, wake up before they worm their way back into Northwich and claim all the old Vics fans back

Im sure Alan Spruce will tell you why we need more help with the pitch whether its a groundshare or just Witton playing at Wincham Park

Simple answer from me, “No”.
WHS.

What’s happened to Vics anyway. Deadline today isn’t it?

With the news on the Northwich Guardian website that Vics` “former owner” - (lololololol) - is in court next week - I bet your board are so glad to be rid of them! Imagine how it would tarnish your “family club” if you were still associated with Vics and taking their money. Well done to the Witton board for standing up to them and showing them who is boss. Time to move on now Witton, pull together and raise money to fill the void.

WHS - but you don’r come anyway !!! Either come to the games and put your money in the pot or stop these inane comments !!!

Its because we need more speccies that the board needs to look at raising more money to move the team forwards. You can’t have it both ways?

Sorry but get off for high horse Knutsfordian, WHS/Alan is entitled to give any opinion he wants he has supported Witton longer than I have been alive, and going to games doesn’t give you the right to talk nonsense. The club has lost support because of awful performances on the pitch end of, football is a results business and unfortunately we haven’t had those on or off the pitch for along time, who is to blame? Who knows? But I agree we need to start a fresh next season and all become one
