Groundshare

Were Barnton meant to announce the new groundshare deal as it seems it has never appeared on here

A touch early with any announcement re WAFC

Don’t know the reasoning but Barnton appear to have acted a little unprofessionally here. Surely any announcements should be done in conjunction with all clubs involved.

Anyway good luck with your tenants again and thanks for letting us use your facilities today. I know you weren’t all
In favour however I’m sure your budget has benefited.

Oooops I am sure 1874 will love this news if there is any truth in it. Welcome news for the Albs. UTA

Mainly a smile.
A smile at the thought that the 74 Board clearly refused to get involved in a bidding war, even if they may have contemplated an approach.
A smile at the probable outrage this will engender in some quarters, including on here (all negative publicity is good publicity).
A smile at the thought that the self-proclaimed owners of NVFC think they are too “big” a club to play at Barnton - they should look up the word hubris.
A smile that the latest shadowy funders of that club (got to preserve that “fan-owned” fantasy as long as possible) think they can buy their way out of the NWCFL.

But also tinged with sadness.
Sadness for the position this has placed Barnton in.
Sadness that after all they have gone through those behind NVFC continue to operate as a closed-shop cabale with none of the transparency they promised.
Sadness even for Witton’s dire financial circumstances making such an arrangement even thinkable.

As for 74? We’re quite happy wallowing for a short while in the pride in our achievements on and off the field this season so far.

Been following Witton since 1978, and I can honestly say I can’t remember when I’ve ever been this disgusted and ashamed of our club.

Did we not learn our lesson the first time? Or indeed the second time?! They’ve proven themselves time and time again to be untrustworthy, and always come along with strings attached investors.

I understand the need for a groundshare. I would have been perfectly happy with 1874. You know they’d pay, you know they’d more than pull their weight in the upkeep of the pitch and stadia in general, and we’d certainly make a decent amount in the bar and tea hut!!

It’ll bite us again this, lets hope we don’t get badly hurt! Going to wait for official statement from Mark Harris and co before making a decisions on a 2018/19 season ticket

Ok so you would prefer 1874, but there is a huge problem with that because 1874 have decided to stay put in Winsford. The bottom line is that we need to raise more money, its not coming through the gates and so the Board has had to act to raise the money to support the budget for next year. There isn’t exactly a long line of suitors wanting to share WP, so we get NVFC. The club isn’t owned by Rushe anymore and presumably has a legitimate source of funding.

I hope it’s legitimate money. Their managers have put in £50k. 6 months after Padiham rejected their £50k. If a good club like Padiham rejects £50k it raises alarm bells to me!

I hope I’m wrong. But here we go again. Our club yet again about to get screwed over by NVFC. Not impressed one bit.

Brilliant news would take anyone over those bin dippers 1874, the money will surely come in handy next season after we win the playoffs

Personally I would take no deal at all over Nothwich Victoria. They have left huge debts behind them in their various guises and ought to have been wound up on at least three occasions. They have continually defrauded the honest football family by living beyond their means and taking no consequence for it. They obviously cannot afford to groundshare with us so where on earth is the money coming from?. What an absolute and utter disgrace this, if true, is.

The club are in no position to turn this opportunity down. If money is paid up front then who are Witton to question where it comes from. I personally would not want to offer our main rivals, 1874 a way back in to Northwich. The club wouldn’t be in this position if the gates weren’t so poor…

We have had cash flow issues this season, we need to raise our income! This is one of the things being explored, it appears to be genuine money from an individual at the club - not Rushe. So unless we have a hidden benefactor who can offer this money what else can we do when the fans stay away even though we are a great side to watch. It’s no good moaning about it! Do something positive - help raise some money otherwise we have to use our facilities and no we did not auction the ground 2012 had agreed to stay at Winsford. UTA

We should be grateful that we own our own ground and are able to have the option of a possible grounds share.
It could be a lot worse. We could be searching for a place to play every couple of years like certain other teams are with the improbability that they’ll ever own their own ground again or ever!

Is it the time. Now that the shareholders, I’ve the owners of the club know what is going onan emergency gm should be called, no one knows what’s going on, and as you are all aware I do not trust chairman Harris

Here we go again.

Every time we get involved with NVFC we get stung, our attendances fall.

As much as some may dislike the 1874 Bin Dippers, at least you know they’d do things right, do things fair and pay money that’s been acquired the right way.

Buckle up reds, it’s going to be a bumpy ride .veryangry

A scheduled AGM is imminent !

There is no reason it should be a bumpy ride. If everyone behaves and does what they say they are going to do, there shouldn’t be any issues. Wittoners have to realise that whilst we may have a good ground of our own, the current willing band of volunteers plus those who do come through the gate, do not generate enough income to sustain the club. The green half of town has always had the ability to generate more money and as a whole are more motivated than WAFC collectively. Standing on the sidelines and complaining that we are assisting competitors whilst doing nothing about it will not solve the problem. In fact it makes it more likely that we will be overtaken by one of our neighbours at some point unless we get all those who say they are Albion supporters to put their issues to one side and get back through the turnstiles.

Well said Knutsfordian, I do not want either green lot at our ground in fact i detest it, but to put our club at risk due to that - by not attending Witton Albion games is justbmadness and will only make it more necessary, we are about to change our structure and it will be even more inclusive than ever ! NOW is the time to get behind your club. If you really want to say NO to ground-share in 2 years time ! then get involved and help your club be self sufficient, because just now we are not UTA

Well said CJ.

To all those not in favour, please offer an alternative.

As Mark has said many times, our main asset is our ground and to leave it unused does not make commercial sense. Hopefully we have learned lessons from previous sharings (pay up front, share pitch maintenance, penalty/cancellation clauses etc) and everything goes smoothly.

It certainly does your club no favours by staying away or not renewing season tickets. That only adds more pressure on the Board to seek alternative sources of income.

Your club needs you now more than ever!

UTA!

The club does need us now, it’ll need us a hell of a lot more after Vics bend us over again!

The answers out there! It’s the other green slime!

Well, let’s take that money off Vics for the next two years, then work something out from there when they go bust!
