Fleetwood finished 2-1 and they are at home to Gateshead on Tuesday.
Buxton will have a big say in the title race the win today put them 4th level with Gateshead and they have still to play Fleetwood twice, Gateshead twice, Eastwood twice and Marine. Plus trips to Guiseley and Matlock. It just shows the 6 points we took off them were very impressive!

Overall not a good performance, too many players had an off day, two points lost, in my opinion MOM was that lazy b~stard. Long way to go.
PS The league that is, love the trips south.
hedenesford were a big physical team who put themselves about. Not a pretty game to watch but we did play all the best football and make the better chances.
I thought we were unlucky to have a "goal" chalked off for offside and Adam Warlow looked odds on to score but put the ball over the angle of bar and post by a whisker. After Rod scored to put us ahead we could have gone 3-1 if adam had taken a chance he rolled past the far post and then Peersy had a great chance at the death with a shot that I thought got a touch to put it wide of the post by a whisker.
I don’t think many players had an off day - it was just a hard physical game where the ball was out of the ground more than it was in it! Hednesford played to their strengths and in the end they got a bit lucky - but got a point some they perhaps deserved for putting us under pressure towards the end of the game.
So another point in the bag for us - yes it could have been 3, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. There is a long way to go and we have to be realistic and stop thinking we will have the league won in no time. Lots of big games to come and lots of points to play for so there will be lots of ups and downs before the end of the season.
Good on you Knutsfordian so let’s stop counting our chickens and get on with the game.
the league ain’t won till the fat lady sings.
As the manager agreed, we were not good enough today. Hednesford made it tough for us to play our usual flowing football. We missed Macca and Brodie more than I thought we would. We were a bit naive after going 2-1 up, giving the ball away far too much. Hard game for Adam Morning to make his debut but generally he did OK.
It’s going to go to wire as every game now is going to be just as tough as todays.
Mom - Rod Thornley - never stopped running and scored a cheeky toe-ender to delight the once again brilliant support.

And from the midlands ExpressandStar:
… he will give us what we have lacked in terms of a physical presence,” said manager Phil Starbuck![/quote]
Since when have Hednesford lacked anything in terms of physical presence? They only play the game physically, it’s the only way they know how!!!
Thought Lazy Lad was immense, battled for everything and created his own opportunities for 90 mins. He got several ‘kickings’ but just got back to his feet and beat them by playing football. Like the goal celebration too!!!
Pritch was the other MOM contender, another commanding performance, he was organised, strong and effective. Up against a 6’8" giant it was Pritch who won the battle all afternoon. I don’t think he put a foot wrong or made a stray pass all afternoon, he was just neat and tidy. He was the only one in the back four on top of their game.
Morning showed a few signs of being a good player, would have liked to see him taking on the last man more but in fairness it was not that kind of game, he had to work more in midfield without Macca or Brodie playing.
Overall felt we did enough to win all three points, we needed a third goal at 2-1 up and were unlucky not to get one. I have seen us play worse and come away with all the points, so no need to panic.
Disagree Rabbit - at 2-1 up we should not be at this stage of the season looking for another goal. We should be killing the game by going into the corners and wasting a bit of time - nothing infuriates the opposition more as we experienced at Eastwood. Not criticising Rod who was MoM but in trying to dribble in their box lost the ball and Hednesford went straight and scored.
