Well it might have been the intent for andrews to go up top but in effect he didnt ? he dropped into midfield 90% of the time leaving titch on his own as the target man and he became easy to mark just my opinion and i thought it gave leek the initiative back, it was a shame liam got injured as we were in control despite the dreadful pitch - wonder if they always keep the grass that long or was it just for our visit ? look forward now to wednesday and showing Leek how the game should be played.
Can’t believe all the debate about the pitch to be honest - who hasn’t been to Leek before?? Was it really a surprise that it wasn’t the best? The old adage applies about it being the same for both teams!
Even with some of the best Witton teams, Under Stan, OB, JV and others we’ve never done particularly well there.
The bottom line is the back 4 were poor 1st half for the first time in a long time, and surprisingly there is no mention of the disallowed 3rd goal for Leek (looked dubious from where I was).
That however was the turning point, and the spirit and desire the team then showed spoke volumes.
The supporters continued to back the team vocally even when they were up against it, which was great to see and hear.
Lastly lets not make the mistake of thinking that all we have to do is get them back to WP, they’ve got players who can play a bit and in Tinson have got a guy who’s been there and done it.
We need to show the same support on Wednesday and get behind the lads.
UTA
Darren Tinson? Blimey, he must be 50 now???
And still a VERY good player.
Just to say that at this moment in time, Josh Hancock’s suspension is not listed on the FA website.
Oh yes it is
Witton Albion FC Joshua Hancock 12/11/2011 Suspended from all football until the Club have completed 3 first team matches for a Sending Off in a match played on 29/10/2011.
The note at the end of the Leek Town match report was mis-leading, and has now been corrected. Basically, I cocked up trying to understanding which competition took precedence over each other. I apologise profuseley for creating any confusion.
The official website should now be correct.
I think the pitch played a major part. You’ve got admire leek in a way, they certainly did their homework. It certainly seems as if their lawnmower broke down last week with the grass being the length it was, the fact that it stopped us playing our quick passing football certainly affected us alot more than it ever would them . With the pitch at home being in the fantastic condition it has been all season I think we will see a totally diference performance and result come tomorrow night.
Just a question. What constitutes “a first team game”? Clearly, the two league games do against Osset and Farsley but does the Macc game count? In theory therefore if a friendly involving 6 or 7 first team players were 2B arranged against say Crewe FC or Barnton, would that count? SBL
Any first team game would be League or cup the county cup comps do count as far as I’m aware - no friendlies cannot be counted as first team fixtures - if they could Pritch would be on the 1000 appearance mark by now!
Any updates from tonight yet?
We’re 2 up apparently Chris.
2-1
3-1 now according to Leek’s website
Scorers : Anthony Sheehan just b4 half-time, Titch straight after & now Danny Andrews
4-1 Josh Hancock

Finished 4-1
£3,000k in the pot and a trip to Droylsden on the 26th now instead of Woodley Sportss at home.
Well done everyone
Full-time 4-1. Well done lads.
Droylesden it is on the 26th!
Really good, strong performance tonight.
Should really have been 3 up at half time, but settled for one after a great run and superbly executed 42nd minute finish from my mom Anthony Sheehan. Titch then scored just after half time, which was quickly followed by a Leek goal from their number 3.
Witton continued to create lots of chances, hitting the bar and then the post from a Josh Hancock free kick.
Danny Andrews then made it three and comfortable, before Josh Hancock scored a fourth to create a scoreline that better reflected the balance of play.
Good vocal support from the surprisingly small band of travelling Leek fans.
Onto Droylesden now for the next round and another difficult tie, but with the talented squad and the way we are playing we should fear noone.
