All Witton’s subs were used and Leek had a man sent off.

Great stuff! Hopefully we can keep it going. Any news on Warlow? It does look like we now have a pretty strong squad - especially looking at the subs bench and considering Peers and Warlow were missing.

Important we don’t take our foot off the pedal Saturday. A good win will set us up nicely before the break for cup games.

Come on the Albion!

First half excellent.
Second half indifferent.

MM should have scored before he did, somehow stabbing the ball wide from inside the 6 yard box with the goal wide open.
MM took both goals well & looked a lot sharper alongside Carl Frost.
Midfield were well in charge in the first half but overrun in the second half.
MacPherson for Leek was sent off for elbowing Connors off the ball.
The referee mirrored Witton’s performance - started well, playing a good advantage for our first goal; cautioned after allowing advantages but he got poorer as the game went on.

Three points - that’s all that matters.

GE
Cant quite get my head around tonights game. first the pitch was dreadfull (I am certainly not having a go at their groundstaff)
its probably the worst position /drainage you could get.
i thought Witton just about deserved the first half lead, but Leek really closed Albion down second half and had the vast majority of play if it had been a boxing match the ref would have stopped it (No pun intended) but one Leek player obviously thought it was Queensbury rules.
I was somewhat dismayed by Albions attempt to play the ball on a rather "ragged surface" mainly in defence where it appeared the defenders tried to get the ball to go directly up into the air in the hope Pritch would head it, kick it out or forwards ,everyone else thought by kicking hard the ball might burst. Everyone likes good football but with the greatest respect you have to go with the conditions. I will end the post on the officials, all I can say gents I hope you have a secure day job. I am sure you are quite capable at some tasks but please think twice about your recreational time because you were Yank (Even you could work that out

What a great turnout by Witton fans!!!

Witton support was excellent - loud and clear all over the ground.

Good 3 points - we have had some dodgy results there in the past. Referee - least said the better - he really was dreadful !!

Has any one got any clues yet why Mr Warlow was missing?
Great result last night gutted i missed it love going to that dump Leek call home.
But 3 points and a brace by Mike Moseley is he finally finding that touch that we all know id love him to go on and score 30 more then that would really give us that push.
Well done WITTON [smiley=applause_smiley.gif] [smiley=banane.gif] [smiley=applause_smiley.gif] [smiley=banane.gif] [smiley=applause_smiley.gif] [smiley=banane.gif] [smiley=applause_smiley.gif] [smiley=banane.gif] [smiley=applause_smiley.gif] [smiley=banane.gif] [smiley=applause_smiley.gif] [smiley=banane.gif] [smiley=applause_smiley.gif] [smiley=banane.gif] [smiley=applause_smiley.gif] [smiley=banane.gif] [smiley=applause_smiley.gif] [smiley=banane.gif] [smiley=applause_smiley.gif] [smiley=banane.gif] [smiley=applause_smiley.gif] [smiley=banane.gif] [smiley=applause_smiley.gif] [smiley=banane.gif]

Another 2-1 win with all of the goals in the first half, and a second half where we didn’t play anywhere as well as we can do.
Shaun looked superb in the first half but dropped out of it in the second, most likely down to the small percentage of ball that we had.
The ref was desperate to help Leek get a second goal by awarding them free kicks for every little niggle which was why we had so little ball in the second half.

Still, three points in the bag, and we’re back up to fifth.
Let’s keep the wins coming.

LEEK TOWN ?1 ?WITTON ALBION ?2

TEAM: Worsnop: Bowler, Pritchard, Spearritt, Brownhill; Lloyd, Brown Alex (Brown Alistair 88), Connors, Whalley (Gahgan 83); Moseley , Frost (Jones G. 65).

Albion once more shrunk into their shells in the second period and allowed the home side desperate for points to take the initiative. The clutch of midfield players at times could virtually be covered by a large tarpaulin sheet. This afforded Leek the space that previously had been well filled down the flanks. Time and again this season Albion?s best attacks and a good few goals have come from getting to the by-lines yet only three times in the second half did this happen. To prove the case Collinge in the home goal only had two saves to make, both from substitute Griff Jones who was centrally placed to head goalwards from crosses from the by-line!

The first half opened with Albion, playing up the hill on a very uneven Harrison Park pitch. On 6 minutes Shaun Whalley skipped down the left flank, pulled the ball across the face of goal, just behind Carl Frost, enjoying a rare match start, against his old team, Mike Moseley came sliding in but was inches away from making contact. However on 19 minutes Albion were in front. A good advantage was played by referee Astley allowing Steve Connors to bring the ball away, he stroked it forward where Whalley was again able to get his cross in and this time MIKE MOSELEY made no mistake from close range.

Three minutes later though the advantage was undone when, expecting an off-side to be awarded Tom Spearritt hesitated, allowing Alan Nagington to advance and strike a 15 yard low shot in from the right and past Jon Worsnop.

Albion were back in front in the 28th minute, again good advantage played, Whalley and Frost involved the ball reaching Rob Lloyd who took a couple of paces to his right before despatching a 20 yard shot towards the bottom left corner. Peter Collinge dived to save but could only parry the ball and in quick as a flash was MIKE MOSELEY to ram the ball home.

In time added on, Steve Howson saw his snap-shot drift wide and then he charged down a clearance by Worsnop only for the ball to spin away to safety. After the break, Witton were rarely in it and were forced onto the back foot as Leek took the game to them. Dorryl Proffitt forced a good save out of Worsnop and then, in the 64th minute, Anthony Danylyk fired in a great shot that rattled the upright with Worsnop well beaten. Leek were reduced to ten men in the 82nd minute when Dave MacPherson threw an elbow into Connors and with him thankfully went Town?s hopes of getting fully back.

One final comment, we saw on several occasions an assistant referee totally bemused as to when a player is active or not. With the unacceptable hesitation shown by him then he was very fortunate that reactions on the park did not overstep the mark!

Anybody notice the Accrington Stanley scout?

Well done last night lads! great first half performance and well done super Mike Moseley! [smiley=applause_smiley.gif] great to see you back to scoring ways keep it up!

3 points against a battling time and against an idiot of a ref keep it going boys well chuffed!

Three points, two goals for MM. Up to Fifth with games in hands, not a bad first third of the season.

Another consideration when thinking about our 2nd half performance, has to be us playing two hard games a week for most of the season so far.

Onwards and Upwards.

Really wish we’d not sit so deep at times though! It’s a rolercoaster ride at the moment - the season certainly hasn’t been dull so far!

It shows good character that we held on for the win on Tues night. Was good to see Chris Gaghan getting a run out aswell.
