Lower Breck v. Witton Albion

Witton travel to new-boys Lower Breck on Wednesday night in their first away game of the season.

The Merseyside club kicked off their first season in the Northern Premier League West Division with an excellent result at Mossley on Saturday.

The club finished as runners up to Bury FC in the North West Counties Premier Division and ran them all the way to the end of the season.

Witton have faced Lower Breck twice before but this will be the first competitive game between the two clubs.

The last meeting was back in 2020 when the two clubs played a friendly at Wincham Park and Albion came out on top in a close game.

Goals from Tom Owens and Leon Johnson were the difference between the two clubs on that occasion.

A number of familiar faces are likely to appear in the Lower Breck squad as they have at least four former Witton players in their personnel.

Jordan Barrow, Jesse Dowling and Harry McGee are expected to be in the line-up and they have recently added defender Callum Grogan to their ranks.

Another former Witton player, Danny McKenna was there but he wasn’t involved in their opening game on Saturday.

A point against a very good Chasetown side on Saturday was a good start for Witton and they’ll be looking to take that into what is a tough test for them.

Kick off at Anfield Sports and Community Centre is 7.45pm.

Good luck lads. UTA

We did play there a few years ago in a friendly I think.
