Mossley AFC v. Witton Albion

Witton travel to Mossley on Saturday afternoon in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

League wins have been few but Witton find themselves in the lower reaches of the table, also due to the fact they have as many as five games in hand on some of the teams above them.

Ben Harrison’s charges go in confident mood following a battling performance that saw them claim a point against Hednesford Town on Tuesday night.

The Lilywhites currently sit in 16th place in the table, two points better off than the Albion but have played two games more.

Their home record is decent with two wins, a draw and a defeat from their four games but they pulled off an excellent result in midweek by beating high-flying Trafford 3-0 away from home.

Their only home defeat coming at the hands of struggling Hanley Town back in August when the Staffordshire team netted three times without reply.

One time Witton goalkeeper David Fish is still in charge at Seel Park and he’ll be hoping to get the better of his former club, but the games between the two are always difficult and keenly contested.

Last season’s encounter saw the points shared in a 1-1 draw with Matthew Lowton scoring for the Albion.

Games are coming thick and fast for the Albion in October and things could look a whole lot brighter at the end of the month but, having games in hand means nothing if you don’t secure the points.

Kick off at Totalrope Solutions Seel Park is 3pm.
