New Striker

I believe we have signed a new striker who is eligible to play tommorrow night, Not had confirmation yet so all I can say at this moment is he is 25 yrs old 6’ 4" tall with league and Conference experience.

Sounds like exactly the type of player to get us out of this league. I would play him, Foster and Moseley and just bump it up to them and ignore or bypass midfield. The players in midfield could just back them up and defend when necessary.

Peter crouch?

Did we win the lottery and someone forgot to announce it!

Great that we are signing new players but I thought we were already dramatically over budget? We have a contracted centre-half who has started most of the last half dozen games on the bench (although last Saturday he played out of position at right back), a contracted midfielder who has yet to start practically any games this season? On Saturday we played a left sided midfielder/winger at left back when the player who has played best in that position was on the bench? Meanwhile Heler continues to start the majority of games despite the doubts of pretty much everyone inside the ground but the manager!

If we have signed a new striker that presumably means that Rudd is now a first choice at centre-half, and the new signing will play upfront alongside Foster, what does that mean for Mike Moseley (who has performed superbly over the past few months)?

From what I can see of recent performances our league position is flattering and the manager appears to be making some rather strange decisions! I hope he knows what he’s doing but recent evidence is not all that convincing!

Moseley won’t be left out surely, he’s been awesome 100% effort each game

If the manager can leave Pritch and Booth out Albs, then he can leave Moseley out too. You only sign a new striker if you intend to play him in place of what you already have! You would have thought that Foster’s goals to date make him the first choice striker?

One new striker, there’s only one new striker!

I have had a call this morning from Trev Senior asking me to put right some of the wrong conclusions that have already been jumped to on here. He feels some of the comments made need to be righted before people start believing rumours for truth and cause unrest on the terraces.

After discusions with Trevor and one of our sponsors with myself over the last couple of weeks between them they have put in place funding specifically to allow us to add an extra striker to the squad. They both felt it was an area that we needed more strenth in depth, so without wanting any publicity they donated the funds. After comments posted on here last night Trevor has asked for his right to ananimity to be lifted and for me to tell people of his desire to improve the squad and help in our quest for promotion. I wish now to publically thank Trev while at the same time feel saddend for the apparent need for this statement.I know most of you will welcome the new addition to the squad.

The Chairman has made a statement in tonights programme regarding the incorrect statements that have also been made re the budget.

Made £4,600 in FA Trophy so far with another lump sum possible next week. Sitting handily in 4th place in the league and having a squad that is good enough for Pritch not to be certain of a place. I think that clears up the query whether the Manager knows what he is doing. As I said, no reason to leave out Foster or Moseley, play all three.

Hello everyone and thanks Graham for putting everyone in the picture, the donations Ive made over the last few weeks were for the players budget, the additional one was for more options and strength in depth in the forward line , it will be up to the manager how he plays them , but my main concern was there was no cover if Steve or Mike or god help us if both got injured. I personally felt as Im sure many of those present at games, that while Mike was injured, Steve was lacking support up front. plus competition for places is not a bad thing.
I personally had the opportunity to help to give an amount of money to aid the team through what could be a very difficult winter, as gates are awful in this league, Ive not done it for my name in a program or a sponsor as that would take up a space for a possible sponsorship from a business. I left the cheque and let the guys get on with it, Im a supporter who like everyone else wants to see the goals fly in for Witton, although no guarantees I hope the cash will help. Thats all there is to it.

TWSfooty, thank you on behalf of all Wittoners for your extremely generous donation, let us hope it pays off with promotion and a win in the FA Trophy too.

Id also like to mention the hard work that Graham and anyone else that was involved in organizing the car boot sale ,which I believe proceeds went towards player budget.

Thanks to the generous donators!! I could not make tonight’s game due to work, did the new striker play a part? who is he? and it would be nice to know what the chairmans statement regarding the budget is??

New Striker - He will probably end up playing centre back

Eli, shame on you. The Manager should have our FULL backing as should the team. I was amazed and dismayed that the team came out for the second half last night to TOTAL silence!! The new lad must have been wondering what he had let himself in for.
WHS.

He should learn to head a ball first.

For God’s sake give the lad a chance, he may turn out to be a great asset. Given the dire performance of the rest of the team I thought he did okay for a first game.
WHS.

Please don’t call him asset
According to Benny Hill many years ago an asset meant a little donkey. The lad is over 6ft.
It was a Benny Hill performance by the whole team,we just needed the theam tune to go with.
Ok,the team may have had a bad day at the office but let’s hope there are not too many of them and the lad still needs to learn to head !!!
Hey WHS sir,you are on your 999th post. One more and it is a grand, bravo!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Have been offline last few days and just found out the new striker is none other than john McAliskie whom i saw play for huddersfield town many times!
trust me this kid is good iv seen him score goals in the league for fun including 2 headers in injury time against scunthorpe to win 3-2 and send every town fan home singing his name
Very suprised to see him at this level and im sure he will score bagfulls of goals in this league

Well thats good news, of course no one was really going to judge him on 1 relatively unimportant game when the rest of the team couldnt really be bothered, lets give the lad our support and a chance, after all we are not vics fans are we
