Quick update. We now have 39 names, if we could push for 50 that would be fantastic. So keep spreading the word!!! I should be at the game tomorrow but I wont be on Saturday there will though be someone in the shop if you want to call in. A Big thank you to everyone who’s shown interest.
I’m living down in Cambridgeshire these days, so getting to games is pretty difficult.
I’d love to have a couple of mugs, but is there any way of paying by card/cheque and having them posted to me? Obviously I’d be happy to pay the postage & packing.
I’d have one mug at home and one in my office - it’s hard to spread the Albion word around here, so I’d love to sit drinking my coffee out of an Albion mug in front of all my visitors!
My Albion cap from when we played Colchester at Wembley still hangs proudly at home - great days - but I still get asked “Witton who?”.
It’s hard to explain to people from out of the area just what it means to support the Albion, especially now I’ve moved away. But once a Wittoner, ALWAYS a Wittoner!
…and just to give you some idea of what an OLD Albion git I am, I used to pay 2/6d to get into the Central Ground to watch a team that included Peter Mellor, Ken Barnes, Chris Nicholl, Barry Wheatly, the mighty Trevor Ogden at centre forward, and Paddy Daly on the left wing.
Even the legendary Dennis Violett joined us for a season, and I was lucky enough to meet him in 1984 in Jacksonville, Florida when he was coaching over there. When I told him that I used to watch him play at Witton, he said “Bloody hell - you’ve got a good memory!”.
