northwich guardian

Having just read yesterdays guardian with yet another great picture of the albs on the back page i couldn’t help noticing yet again that the angle the pic has been taken from hardly shows any fans. Now to anyone who hasn’t been to a game it looks like a crowd of one man and his dog which can’t be good can it? Just wondering if robbo or chad or anyone who speaks to simmo could possibly bring this up? Surely pics with the fans behind the action is a much better advertisement than what appears to be an empty ground?

The photos are generally taken from the end we are attacking towards, so most fans are behind the camera.

Not much that can be done about that really…

Yeah just get him to plonk his stool on one of the wings. Just a thought.

I think this is a good shout particularly at this time of the year when some people are looking for new things to do on saturday afternoons in the new year. Witton might appeal more to Guardian readers, particularly those that haven’t been to WP before or are new to the area, if there are fans or the main stand for example shown in the background of the shots as it might give more of a feel for the place. I suppouse the photographers can stand wherever they like and think best at the end of the day but anything that might help to attract a few newbies whilst 1874 v*cs get their house in order might be worth a try. Just a thought anyway. UTA

On the wings he would be sat right on the pitch side. Plus in the way of throw ins and the linesmen…

There are 3 possible answers here if we feel that passionately;

  1. We all make cardboard cut outs of people in red and white shirts and place them at strategic places around the ground
  2. We all go and stand somewhere else so that the camera gets us all in the photos
  3. We hire ‘extras’ to stand around the stadium pretending to be Witton fans

:goal

  1. We get the guardian to not put any photos in but instead we get a court illustrator to draw the action as required and ask that he draws hundreds of us in the back ground.

  2. We get the players to pose for the photographers desired shots either before or after the game and we can all congregate in the back ground of the photos

  1. We get them to use photoshop to put us all in.

I do love a good brain storming session.

Clue lies in looking for new things to do so
7.Let kids in for free ,do more family offers and fill the ground !

We do let kids in for free?

The league allows 3 promotional days a a season, which we use to offer Families For A Fiver days?

So this is what happens if you put a bit of an idea in? sorry won’t happen again!

We need ideas, but for things which we can influence.

If we want to get more crowd in the shots then we will simply have to go and stand somewhere else so the camera gets us. If you’re happy to co-ordinate that then i’ll support you all the way.

The alternative is that the Guardian just stop putting photos in.

I would rather we keep to the current arrangement.

(For the record, i raised it with Simmo, and he confirms what i said in my original post).

Have to agree, not sure so many sarcastic responses were needed to what started off as a perfectly legitimate observation. Thought the whole idea of an open forum was to put ideas forward, belittling them isn’t good guys :red

Apologies.

I will endevour to restrain from displaying any sense of humour in all future forum postings.

I’m sure i speak for Dave and Woody when i say we meant no offense. Well, Woody at least.

Now let’s get cracking with some ideas that we can implement ourselves, rather than relying on a third party.

UTA!

Lets not be oversensitive now people, having a bit of a laugh with it is hardly belittling is it?

Fair enough just didn’t think it was such a bad idea from WM. Anyway UTA see yas tomoz to those that are going B)

My bad! Never my intention to stop ideas to help the club.

Kids for free ? Is there an age limit then ?
Anyway on the principle no new ideas so lets recycle other peoples - I was in LYtham the other week and on the bar was a AFC Fylde leaflet .as you know the Kellarmargh STadium is isolated worse than Wittons so they run a mini bus from the local pubs/ collect places to home games and back after the game .didnt say there was a fair charged but even so jumping on the Beer Bus appeals !

15 and under are free. It’s also Families for a Fiver next Saturday so bring as many as you can.

Agree with a beer bus. I think we should have a coach from Memorial Hall at 1pm, drive the long way round and make it feel like an away day guinness :stuck_out_tongue:

The Penny Black to Wincham Park, via Birmingham.
We’d sing at home then!

Good idea though, although I’m guessing it’s probably been suggested/trialed at some point during the last 20 years.
