Telford: Vics should pay up cup cash

VICS’ FA Cup conquerors claim they are owed cash by the troubled Blue Square Premier club.
AFC Telford United say they have asked the Football Association to help them get their share of gate receipts from matches between the two teams in October.
“Jim Rushe has not responded to my calls once,” said Bucks chairman Lee Carter.
“The FA are now involved and amazingly Vics haven’t responded to them either.”
The Guardian has contacted the FA to check Carter’s claim, although the game’s governing body has yet to respond.
The competition’s rules state that prior to the third round, net gate receipts should be split equally between the two clubs.
Northwich owe Telford a four-figure sum, according to the Blue Square North club.
“It’s not a case of us needing the money,” added Carter.
“However, if they were doing this to a club that did then it could be the difference between that club trading and going under.”
He also took a swipe at the transfer activity of Vics boss Steve King, who has brought in four players on permanent deals – three others on loan, since he took over as manager at the start of November.
Carter reckons that is proof enough that Vics have the money to give Telford their cut of the gate money.
“When I read in the non-league press about how Northwich are signing this player and that player I realise they are taking us for mugs,” he said.
Vics lost 3-0 to Telford in a rearranged tie after their original meeting was abandoned at half time when a generator providing electricity to the Marston’s Arena failed.
Telford’s official website says a four-figure crowd attended both matches.
