So Oggie is director of football, Macca mgr and Pritch Asssistant ? Terry Murphy was on the bench on monday so this was in place then ? only doubt I have is we need Macca as a player so can see pritch doing more of the manager role in reality with macca on the pitch, leaves us a bit inexperienced but maybe we will see another tweak to the line up ? hope mondays selection is not a sign of things to come with ben and matty dropped to the bench could not understand that one bit - both should have started and Kearns should not be at right back !
My thoughts exactly!
Has anyone got a product opposite to WD40 to seize up the ever revolving door at Witton this year!
" Has anyone got a product opposite to WD40 to seize up the ever revolving door at Witton this year! "
That has always been Oggys way of management!
Gave the chairman a nod of approval with the appointment of Oggy but would have preferred Brodie and Pritch but did not say so at the time because I would probably be accused by some of rocking the boat.
The only danger now is that Maccas form could be affected by doing 2 jobs after all he is no Ken Barnes ?
Anyway good luck to Macca & Pritch - I am sure they will do their upmost to build on the fairly solid start made by Oggy !
I agree Harrison and Woods should play and Kearney should NEVER be wasted at Right Back. I am not happy with the changes at the top, continuity is what the club needs on the field and off not a continuous chopping and changing. In my opinion we have one problem when everyone is fit, that is at Right Back, fix that and we can be successful.

Does ‘moving up’ still mean on the payroll???
Was he getting paid then Redfan ?
According to the NG - sounds as though the board are not too happy about the number of players used either ?
Could this be the last we have seen of Oggy ?
I certainly hope not, I think he knows his stuff and we need him.

In my opinion for what its worth if he would have stuck with the players who in good faith signed for the club at the start of the season, worked, “encouaged” and coached them as a unit they might have been in a better position than the failing and unachieving position the club finds itself in now. Sadly, we will never know. A young ambitious side could have been carefully built this season ready for a serious assult on the league next season which I thought was always the long term plan! All that the knee jerk revolving door policy has done is to undermine the confidence of good footballers and bring in players on what appeared a mere whim. Enough said…

By my reckoning all of the above players featured in our pre-season prep, and are all still playing or a part of the squad? SO for all the ‘tinkering’, the base of our squad has remained largely consistent. If players aren’t good enough, then why persevere with them? Did Fergie persevere with Taibi for example, give him coaching and encouragement? Nope, he shipped him out and replaced him with somebody better. As long as we are doing that then i wont complain.
Who that has left would you keep? Should we have coached Chris Smith (good luck with that in the recent snowy conditions!) rather than signing Ashley Stott? The manager works with the players for a few hours a week, not 5 or 6 hours a day. Really, how much better do you think he can make a player?!
The problem here is clearly that we should have given Nige Deeley more time. At least then we could have been a competitive North West Counties side rather than punching above our weight in this league.
In one breath people say we don’t have a right back, but in the next complain when we try playing Kearney there (something he did plenty of under Jim Vince).
Matt Woods wasn’t fit for Monday - must be the manager’s fault that.
Robbo,
dont want to argue but if that 11 is good enough why have we tried another 31 players on top, and its coming to a head when we drop Ben and matt from the defence to put in players that are not as good - matt injured ? doubt it he played the game before at left midfield and was then on the bench dont believe everything you are told, change when its an improvement is good but most people think it had gone silly to be honest, sometimes when you have an injury crisis ytou have to sign short term players to fix holes but we have signed a left back who has replaced matt woods and a centrehalf who has discplaced Ben Harrison - both not needed - extra cost and we still do not have a decent right fullback the best centre back pairing has consistently been ben and kearns this does not need changing, keaerns did indeed play right back under vince and did not enjoy it or prosper there so he left to play centre half ? you seem to be defending the manager from attack however my view is everyone still supported him, but was mystifying us with his recent actions thats all, anyway we will see how it changes now under the new regime.( bet we sign a right full back soon !!!)
I didnt say those players were good enough CJ, i’m saying that although we have used a lot of players the core of the team has largely remained the same. Players have come in for a game, not been good enough and then been shipped out. I dont have a lot of problems with that.
From what i am told Matt Woods declared himself unfit/unwell prior to kick off, i think he was expected to be playing.
Ben was given a game off on a the back of what was deemed a sub-standard performance at Warrington. Not ‘dropped’, or rested, just given a chance to ‘sit one out’. Considering it’s his first season at this level, and considering he has barely missed a game, then again i dont have too many issues with that. The way people are talking you would expect that we had a completely different first XI than we had in August.
When our team is fully fit, compare it to what we had on the opening day - which would you prefer? Players have to leave for new players to come in. Players wont sit on the bench every week, so if they aren’t good enough to get in our team they will go elsewhere. That’s a fact of life at this level, and these players then need to be replaced.
I think people are making lazy criticisms, and i really dont know what people expected from this season? We were all well aware that we had a budget to match the teams fighting for survival, yet here we are still within touching distance of the play offs. We have matched Chester and Fylde, despite their budgets dwarfing ours. We even managed a pretty decent trophy run!
But still we aren’t satisfied!
Week on week we cry out for somebody new at right back, so Ogden has failed in that respect. In my opinion until we rectify that, i would be playing Kearns there too. Football is a matter of opinions, and as it was Macca who picked the team Monday then that isn’t a criticism that can be levelled at Ogden anyway.
We have a better team than we could have expected in pre-season, we are higher up the table than we could ever have expected to be. But still we would rather criticise the manager. Typical Witton attitude.
Add Andy Kinsey to the list of players who are regular players, and also involved at the start of the season.
I said some time ago that given our budget the players we had were of a very good standard and I stand by that. I hoped for a play off place but I did not feel it was a sure thing. We are a club slowly rising from the ashes, we will get back to where we belong as long as our supporters do not lose faith. Mr. Ogden is a fine Manager, his record over the years speaks for itself, and I believe we still have the makings of a play off team, the problem now is that this change of manager may effect moral and moaning on here is not going to help either. Try to be positive, we can be the club we should be if we are just patient and don’t expect miracles.

Valid points Robbo !
We all knew and accepted Oggys style of management and I think that he has done a good job but reading between the lines of the chairmans statement can’t help thinking that money or more precisely lack of money is the main reason for this sudden mid-season change.
Think that Pritch should and will be the one who influences the teams progress with Macca concentrating with on field matters.
I do hope money is not the reason for this change, we were all aware there were restrictions on cash for the team as I am sure was Mr. Ogden. He must be frustrated that he cannot find a good right back with the cash available, (Though personally I don’t think the lad playing there has been THAT bad.) or bring in a quality mid field player for the same reason but I was surprised how angry he seemed to be with the team at Warrington, perhaps he has become one of us, a “Grumpy Old Man” or perhaps he just feels he can do no more. I hope he comes back, I think he is a “Good Un”.

Some good points Robbo but dont agree on all of them , I really like Oggie, macca and pritch and welcomed the appointment and would still support them strongly, we nearly have a very good team and simply cannot understand why we have done some of the things discussed here so I thought id raise it on the forum for a discussion - I thought that was the point of the forum or am I missing something, if you disagree thats fine with me I will listen to your points and make mine good healthy debate imo, its not lazy criticism its forum debate, the Mgt team are not going to listen to me anyway, I am satisfied where we are at to a point ! just cannot ignore that we could have done even better without really spending more money ? just spend it more wisely , one last point given our gates are pretty high comparitively why have we only got a survival level budget is this a fact or hearsay ? this is a poor standard league and does not take a great team to challenge for promotion only 3-4 teams have impressed me greatly and based on my viewing I see no reason why we cannot challenge for a playoff place so onwards and upwards Cmon the Albs
I agree with the points above aswell, especially about the standard of the other teams in the league. I for one am a bit confused about the amount of players who have come and gone so far this season! And the talk about the lad Ben Harrison I think he has been doing, generally, a good job and I was disappointed he found himself on the bench. However, Ive spoke to a couple of people who know him well and they all keep telling me his best position is a centre forward! I wonder if this is something we might look to in the future, if not sooner??
Played against Ben when he played for Lostock Reserves season before last, he played up front then, not sure he is this standard as a striker at the moment , but worth while throwing him up front in the last 10 - 15 when you need a goal.
