Great post Robbo. Echo those thoughts entirely
Why are people so sure that Pritch would be the best candidate? If you were not present in the interviews you can not know. How do you know he wont throw in the towel in a few months and say sorry I made a mistake coming back and leaves for personal reasons and we will be looking for another manager again? I am pretty sure Carl must have some good contacts and knowledge being as he works for Liverpool.
Also I see the comment asking why we are not able to attract top players with the revenue that we have - I was contacted by a player last night who is quitting Witton and says that himself and other players, past and present are dismayed at what they read on this forum. Why would people want to come to Witton if they come on here and read this crap.
Who are you all by the way? Can you not use your names if you are as passionate about witton and knowledged as you say?? Why be cloak and dagger and use your alias names? If you are happy to insult the chairman and the board at least have the balls to show them who you are.
i have read lots of comments on here some i agree and some i don’t lets get behind carl i watched a few games at Vauxhalls when carl was manager they played the ball on the ground and played some good football againist teams with bigger budgets like stockport and boston so i hope from Saturday we have a win to get the up the table before Radcliffe in a big game in the fa trophy

Probably explains why we keep giving away leads. No backbone.
But seriously, you actually think this is the real reason? Come on…
Stockport were in Conference North season after Vauxhall resigned.
This is part of the problem. Inaccuracies. As I’ve said in a previous post there is no sign of Carl on the Liverpool Foundation website?? What’s the deal there?
And players leaving because of what’s on a forum? What a load of rubbish. what next, players leaving because someone has a moan at them from the stand on matchday? What then Jo, do we ask all fans to stop saying anything on the terraces unless it’s polite applause and compliments.
I’ve loyally supporter Witton for years. Given money to Tracey every week, supported off the field events and even helped out when the club have requested it doing some odd jobs over the years. I’ve earned my right to comment. If you don’t like it feel free to disagree but don’t try to silence me.
its one of the reasons . . didnt say it was the main one. Its coming from them directly . . . they are disgusted with it.
I am outta here!! Had enough of reading all this tosh now. Good luck to all of you who are no longer coming to Witton. All the best for the future. To those who are still coming see you Saturday.
the game I want to in conf north was against stockport on a Tuesday night Vauxhalls won one nil if I remember sorry for the inaccuracys
Its is all well and good insulting the board ! and yes of course everyone is entitled to an opinion-But it does appear some have an agenda on here and look at every point/decision to have a go at the Chairman and the board, re the Manager I would probably have gone for Pritch looking on but I was not in the interview and I do not know the reasons for choosing Carl but a 5 man panel made the decision not the Chairman. The only negative really stems from the football side and we have struggled since Pritch resigned and even did during some of his tenure but do you think the Chairman and board want to pick a manager who does not work out, the chairman and his family put a lot of time effort and money into this club and I BELIEVE make decisions for the best of the club ! agreed some over the recent period have not worked out and of course I am as disappointed as the next man. However I disagree on walking away, by all means withdraw support for the board if thats how you feel but to stop watching the team never for Me, it is not going to stop Me, I have have not liked a few Chairman, Directors and managers in the past in fact hated a few but at no point did I stop watching the team- If you feel that strongly then maybe form a small group and ask to meet the Chairman ! I dont believe He will object and try to talk it through with Him because We all want the same result a successful club and team and We have more chance if We are pulling together, I have found Mark approachable and I have challenged him in the past and He has been honest and open, Is that not better than Criticism on here and withdrawing support for the club I guess we all love ? Yes we can disagree but it is My experience that working from within to help and make change is more effective than Moaning and throwing insults around.
Surprised it has taken you this long see what goes on at the helm !
Eli who ?
Where has anyone insulted the chairman?
Questioned the boards ability - yes? But insulted - no.
And who was on this 5 strong panel? Be interesting to know why they have chosen Carl as it can’t be based on records. So they must have based it on an interview? best way to appoint a manager? Not in my opinion.
And Jo you say they may have thought Brian would walk away again. Is this inside information? If this is a reason then that’s a disgrace. Anyone can walk away at any time. What’s to say Carl isn’t using us as a stepping stone and is planning to leave if a bigger job came up? Can’t base an appointment on if’s, buts and maybes.
It the board have used this as a decision making tool then it further compounds my distrust of them.
read my post again. At no time did I say that they thought he would leave again. It was me asking where would we be if he did . .not the board. Stop spouting about inside information and it being disgusting. That is stirring shit!
Upthealbs, just for you. http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/174723-reds-college-set-for-dallas-cup-return. There are plenty of articles from this year but this one has a picture of Carl. Second image - front right.
All the best Carl.
I would rather work with Chimps, they are idiots etc are not terms of endearment ! TRY AND FIX IT DONT JUST MOAN is my point.
CJ who was on the panel? ]
I dont exactly know who was on the panel, I can guess as well as you, But Trevor has said he was and Mark for sure the other 3 may be other directors/football senior people, there not that many to choose from though.
i think the fans are not being fair to the chairman he put a lot of hours and money in and i dont see anybody else offering
As a supporter of 40 years plus, and someone who goes home and away, and is share holder, if want to say that the board made the wrong decision in my own humble opinion then I will come onto the FORUM and do so. If I start to do other things on Saturdays because I have had enough, and feel that the club i used to know is long gone then I will. I am sure that green and white money will more than make up for it.
Not been on here for a few months but was told of this thread so thought I’d have a look.
Those that know me know that I got involved with Witton through knowing Pritch away from football. I’ve spoken to him at length in recent weeks but this post is in no way speaking on his behalf.
It is no secret that Pritch had a desire ro return to Witton as manager and try to turn the club’s fortunes around. He had made significant alterations to his working life and personal life in preparation for this opportunity. So he was bitterly disappointed when that opportunity didn’t arise.
However his first call was to Carl to congratulate him and wish him luck. He will not have a bad word said about Carl and the two have a good relationship. The club has chosen a different path and whilst some questions remain about the processes involved I think every fan needs to give the new manager a chance.
I’m sure those decision makers have their reasons for chosing Carl as the man to turn around the season.I’m sure those people would be happy to talk about it with anyone who wishes to question them on it. It sounds like the board have got their work cut out to convince some but that is achievable with total transparency about the decisions they have taken. If fans ask, then they should be told. We don’t know who the other candidates were, maybe one of them was even better on paper than Pritch or Carl.
My feeling is the club have possibly made an error here but if they have its not one they will have done willingly. Carl is a very experienced manager but Pritch was proven at this level and for me that would have more weight over experiencr in other divisions. However that’s just my opinion and some would say I’m slightly biased!!
Time will tell I guess, but the board need to try and repair some relationships as a fractured fan base will only harm the club. That can be achieved by making themselves available to answer questions that fans may want to ask, and ensuring that no personal agendas get in the way of the running of the club.
Good luck for the rest of the season and the future, whatever that may hold.
Trevor has asked me to post this on his behalf as he can’t access the forum:-
To put the record as straight as best I can. This was the first time I had sat on the interview panel. From my own view I voted Carl Macauley. Hes a fresh face, management wise to the club ,he was selected on the basis of his experience at Vauxhalls and Marine , despite the records at both I personally felt he and his assistant Gary Martindale had the required credentials to get us out of this mess and beyond . He has similar network of contacts that most managers have at this level and higher.
When talking with them in my opinion out of the other four candidates they convinced me they could and would be the best for the job and would give the club a much needed boost .
Now anyone can choose to disagree , that’s fine . But everyone is welcome at the club to support and give an opinion . But the slagging off between supporters has to stop . End of. There’s a very big job to do . You can either destroy it together or possibly and hopefully be part of a revival together. I’d prefer to be part of the latter . See you Saturday !!
