As you may know I’m going to be taking over the editing duties of the programme from Jamie next season. Hopefully you won’t see any drop in quality in what I think we all agree has been a superb read over the past few seasons.
Before the season starts I was wondering if there were any features you would like to see in the programme?
We are already looking at having some brief Q&As with the players and possibly a fan feature with favourite witton memories etc.
What else do you want to see in your programme? All sensible ideas considered…
Would love to see a “where are they now feature” . I’d enjoy finding out what some of the players from the 70’s and 80’s are doing.
How about interviews with the volunteers, what they do and why?
WHS.
Absolutely brilliant suggestion. :clap
Sad Paul that you want to hear about past players but not the people who made it possible for footballers to play for us and still do. There are so many people within our club who make the whole thing possible, they deserve as much recognition as ex players surely? and let us be honest, most of those ex players were here purely for the money, not many “Pritchrard’s”, Moselely’s" and dare I say it, “Harrison’s” amongst them. But I agree, hearing about ex players would be nice but so would hearing from the great volunteers we have.
WHS.

Robbo started a ‘Know Your Club’ feature last season.
I did like the journey planner thing Jamie put in last season. Bit sad but is that staying in?
Davekett asked for suggestions and thats all that’s been done, I think its a little unfair to criticise somebody for showing support for that comment. I’m sure Paul appreciates all the hardwork done by the volunteers as I do and I do think it would make a good feature, however critising people’s suggestions isn’t what this post is about.
I’ll continue with the player Q&A features.
Of course, anybody wanting to suggest a particular player or question is more than welcome to!
I often end up banging my head against the wall trying to find that elusive final question…
Glad to hear the player interviews will be back, my favourite section of the programme (followed closely by Pritchs notes), I think in my opinion an interview with Shaun Tuck if he stays with the club would be a must. In regards to the last question how about the Soccer AM ‘longest in the shower’ ha ha!

I do feel this is an unnecessary comment WHS.
If you recall, you stopped coming to Witton last season due to a particular player. Your solidarity with the Club’s volunteers wasn’t so obvious at that point?
I agree however that the volunteers should be recognised, and as Joe says, we cover off the volunteers in the Know Your Club feature which has been running since last season.

Oasis or Blur.
Great idea the ‘Where are they now’ Would love to know what happened to John Bishop and Dave Anane!
This thread is in danger of being taken off topic once again unfortunately.
Can we continue with serious suggestions to assist Dave in his endeavors this season.
I’ll set up a running thread when the season gets closer in which people can vote for who they want to hear from or ask them questions.
I usually try to do it through Twitter but had limited success last season.
Of course the only thing that matters is what the supporters want to read!
However, if anybody feels that they could improve the Q&As or wants to take on the role themselves they are more than welcome!

Thank god you were here to rescue it. God only knows what would have happened
I’ve always been into nostalgia. How about a weekly pic of old teams and players in action? Plenty of programmes in the museum u could use?! Maybe the older wittoners would like it? I was at that game etc!

Hang on a minute! What type of Thesaurus do you read where the three words “absolutely brilliant suggestion” translate to “I dont want to hear about the people who made it possible for footballers to play for us and still do” or “the great volunteers we have”? For the record there are not too many that have more respect for our current players, staff and volunteers than me. They make it possible for me to watch the football club I have supported and loved all my life, the heartbeat of the club I agree.
Ever thought of going on the Matt Lucas awards WHS? You would do very well in the “most off topic response to someone elses post on the central grounder forum that they didn’t even say” category :silly:
I would like to see reviews of previous seasons. Who the manager was, players, signings, key people off the pitch, statistics, key turning points of the season, cup progress etc. It could be beefed up with interviews, not only from key people, but also interviews with fans who attended most of the matches from that season.
For example, a review of the 1990/91 Season when we won promotion from the HFS Loans League. Interviews with Ian Dobson (Chairman), John Davidson(Assistant Manager), Steve McNeilis(Centre Half/Captain) and Andy Chadwick(a very young supporter)?
