lookin utter crap

it must be the slope of the pitch. wait for the second half.

I didnt know VICTOR MELDREW watched Witton. . .keep your negative comments to yourself, there is a long way to go yet

haha funny guy. Oh sorry what i meant 2 say was its only 3-0 we are losing 2 this crap team. Its fantastic we r only losing by this much. I thought it would be 6 by half time. Yeah…Get real!

Victor, you learn nothing from winning friendlies, but you WILL find out what your players are worth when they are 3 down at half time, FFS have some faith

i think our teams superior fitness will come through in the second half. it would not suprise me to see us win by 4-3.

3 - 1 swartz

is it possable 4 our keeper to atleast make an atempt to move ?

Nige had said before the start of this game not to expect to see a team that would be a ‘starting eleven’. It is absolutely necessary to experiment with players in games like this and that is exactly what he did. He was not particularly happy with the first 45 minutes but there were some encouraging signs.

I thought Gaghan did enough to show that he can be a good player for us next season, Schwartz (whilst making a few errors and one that contributed to a goal) looked ok but was probably not in his favoured position (he is more a centre half than left back as I understand).

The players missing; Willis, Scott and Drew would all be likely considered as being in the first team.

You have to juggle with the pack at this stage, remember this is the third game and 9 of the 11 have not played football as a team before. It is far too early to judge or criticise. Everyone will have opinions and yes I think there were one or two today that were not good enough for the grade, but until you play them how do you know that. I would much rather we find that out know than signing them up in expectation.

If we would have ran out easy winners today we ironically would have learned less with the outcome. We have a 4 friendlies still to play and by the time we play Man City at home in 2 weeks and 3 days time we will be closer to knowing how the team is starting to gel. There is a lot of work to do in a short period but Nige will get them sorted.

There is no need to worry, i think Nige has been very very clever. Why field our best XI before the start of the season just for Halifax to come in and steal them? Keep them hidden, and those players that are making the line-up at the minute are clearly being told to under-perform so that Halifax don’t try to nick those either.

Have faith, it will all come good…

In all seriousness, we have some good players at the Club at the moment. Unfortunately at least 3 of those were missing today in Willis, Drew, and Scott. I think there were at least 4 today who don’t look up to it, but there is still time for players to be released from Clubs higher up the Non-League pyramid, and some of these will make their way down to our level, so Nige’s recruitment work is by no means completed. The season kicks off on the 16th February and not a minute earlier. There are plenty of training sessions to come yet, and that is where the bulk of the preperation for the coming season will be done.

In regards to WittonRobbo’s comment about Greg Smith; well we all know how JK saw the benfit of Milly’s coaching last season, so let’s give Smith a chance to show what he can do also.

There are a few things that concern me, but results aren’t one of them at the moment. When they start dishing out points for winning friendly games then i’ll start to be a bit more bothered.

Anyone who isn’t happy with the players we can afford on our current budget; have you pledged yet?!?

… and i thought it was taking long enough to get round to the 16th august :stuck_out_tongue:

just dont think i can wait till 16th Feb robbo lol

As I said before, friendlies are of no real importance except to get players fit and to sort out the chaff from the wheat. Seems this 11 had a lot of “chaff” in it that’s all. I believe that our team will do well in the league this season, but I also think it will probably be a rough start for us as we will be fielding what is virtually a totally new team. Give Mr. Deeley time and I am sure he will give us a team capable of more than holding its own in this league.
WHS.

Some of the best pre-season performances I have seen came the year we got relegated from the conference! Friendly matches are just about fitness, trying things out and players getting to know one another on the field. Results don’t matter.

to be fair there was moments that we strung some decent passes together and im sure the 2 centre mids that were missing will make a difference. But my god, we need strikers with an eye for goal. And i know we dont yet have one in this squad. I think its great that rod showed loyalty to us but that doesnt mean he should be playing every week. We need 2 goalscorers!
