Re:Save Jim Vince

Great posts Len, Mike T and the Wincham Rabbit.

I just say again. If anybody out there has direct contact with Mike and/or Jim, please make sure they are reading this thread.

Mike and Jim…if you are reading these posts, then please, please, please, please, please, please contact each other and try and reach some sort of consiliation. Please don’t be too proud to swallow your pride. Get it sorted between youselves, and get your heads together and start planning next season. Not just the 1st team, but all the other teams who play under our banner, whatever they are called.

What’s happened to this thread? I just replied to Len, The rabbit, and Mike, and when I submitted, all previos post disappeared?

Perhaps that is a good thing as Wittoner was arguing with Wittoner. We need to back our club not individuals. Mr. Vince let Mike Moseley go last year, a decision that hurt Mike deeply, but it was for the good of the club in Mr. Vince’s view, right or wrong. We are Wittoners, let’s stop arguing and see what develops from the discussions over the next few days.
WHS.

Ive read so much these past few days, I think after the Buxton game everyone should have gone away for two weeks and just let the emotion settle. Regardless of the result Witton have a good base here , good set of players , that ofcourse can be improved as they have done over the last few seasons. Im hindsight this 2 weeks break should have been decided way back, you cannot come to a proffesional, rational decision straight after such a match. Let everyone cool off take a break and come to the table again after reflecting. Alot of work to throw away, even tho I would imagine a que of some good managers knocking at the door , I feel Jim had alot more to offer Witton. If raising money for players is a problem then lets put heads together and see what can be done to get the extra. As much as we critisize our rivals , no matter who manages them , who owns them , throughout the years ,they seem to find the money to get players to survive, there doing somthing right.

Can’t explain why the thread has disappeared, have done some research and can’t find anyone else who has had this problem. It seems to have been deleted whilst two replies to the thread (by Thatched Tavern and P.W.) were being composed, hence they have now started off 2 new threads. I’ve checked all the relevant database tables, nothing wrong there. I can only assume that the thread has been deleted by someone else with admin privileges.

Mike

Thanks for looking into this. The thread needs to be returned, it should not have been removed by anyone unless it breached forum rules.

Jack

I for one is pleased that this thread has disappeared I am sure that both parties involved are fully aware of the supporters feelings and a few of the postings were well over the top.

cmon guys we can get through this I know things look bad at the moment but no one person is bigger than the football club. I know Jim has been treated badly by the club and it is terrible but look what happened to Nigel Gleghorn he was sacked on the steps ouside Stocksbridge club. What I am trying to say is it is not the first time a manager has been treated badly but we have moved on from there and gone on to better things.

We have a great set of supporters the best even and we have got to stick together. We are Witton Albion not the building or the team or the chairman,we have been through darker times than this and pulled through and we will do it again.

We must stay strong and believe that some good will come out of this,What were you telling me last week be positive.

It would not be Witton if there was not some drama going on.

keep the faith.

Has anybody spoken with Jim and Mike yesterday ? Is there any chance of a reconciliation or are we looking for a new manager ?

The leading article in the non-league today covers the story of Jims resignation, no actual reasons for his departure are given. Looks very much like he’s gone, so we must move on, as a club.

Don’t be too quick to move on. If you’d been at the POY do last night, you would know that many Wittoners, and even part of the management team are doing their very best today, and in the next few days to keep Mike and Jim together. Let’s all pray they are successful!

Well said Thatched Tavern.

If there were postings that breached the forum rules, they should have been deleted and the online community informed. That is the mature way in which these things should be dealt with. I, for one, will normally support the moderators to this end. However to remove the thread entirely was not appropriate. The vast majority of what was said was entirely relevant and constructive.

The thread was making an important contribution to the discussion. I suspect that it made clear to all involved the depth of feeling about the current matters under discussion.

Indeed, if any reconciliation is possible between Jim and the club, the thread might have played a small part. It is when people don’t know what’s going on that they can’t support their club at an important time. This forum is one such medium.

For those that haven’t seen the report from the Non-league live site:

MIKE Worthington says Jim Vince’s departure has left him at his lowest ebb since taking over as chairman.

He told the Guardian he had wanted the manager to stay despite Witton’s failure to secure promotion for the second successive season.

“There was never any question of Jim being fired,” he said.

Worthington admitted he was at a loss as to why Vince had decided to quit hours after Albion’s play off semi final defeat against Buxton on Tuesday.

He did reveal though that he had told the now former manager that the playing budget for next season would be slashed, adding that Vince had been aware of, and accepted, that possibility.

Indeed, Worthington told the Guardian last week that two packages had been on the table for quite a while’, one tailored for promotion and the other for Witton staying where they are.

“He promised me he would do his best with what I had proposed and that’s what I was expecting,” he added.

"Jim has brought success to Witton Albion over the past two years but he’s not done that without an appropriate budget.

"I still rate him extremely highly and said to you only last week that our relationship had been the best I had known between chairman and manager.

“There has been no fall out, in fact for the past few weeks we had been talking openly about life in the Blue Square North then all of a sudden we are both faced with what’s happened,” he continued.

"We invested, quite rightly, in Jim Vince to get Witton Albion promoted and he got us extremely close but the sad fact is we will still be playing in the UniBond League next season.

“Because of that we can’t keep the budget at the same level next season.”

Worthington also moved to squash speculation among supporters that the pair had had a disagreement about plans off the pitch.

He added: "I’ve heard talk about what I call husbandry issues’ such as whether we buy a new kit or not for next season.

"Of course that’s something that can be discussed as part of preparations for next year but for me it’s not a resigning issue.

"I don’t think I’ve ever felt as low as I do now.

"Believe me there have been a lot of ups and downs but this is the worst dip’'.

Will agree to disagree there Jack.

According to an honest appraisal of the situation by Paul Worthington, who says that the Club have acted badly? Yes, in the case of Nigel Gleghorn it was done wrongly, however the Board wanted Jim to stay, the Chairman wanted Jim to stay, the supporters wanted Jim to stay…

So Jim, if there is something to be told why is it not being made public? The Club is the most important thing, the survival of the club for many years to come, that is why its important that the Chairman and Directors run the business side as well as they have done for the past ten years or so.

Managers come and Managers go, Witton Albion will remain as a club, if there is no reconcillation then someone else will be at the helm next season.

So it was down to money?

I am in agreement on what you say Rob.
one needs to, at least listen to the masses and feel the pulse of emotions.
I am certain Gordon Brown has nation’s interest at heart but he is not the the flavour of the month is he ?

I dont think Ive agreed with Rob Sproston ever before, but you have to do everything once in life. I hope that the club gets through this latest turmoil but I have my doubts.
PS Nigel Gleghorn deserved to be sacked.

I may be well off the mark but I am beginning to think that perhaps Mr. Vince has had a better offer, probably from a club higher up the non-league ladder, and he is using this argument with the board as an excuse to go. If not, I cannot see why he will not stay now that Mr. Worthington nad the board have openly stated they have no wish to lose his services. Plaese prove me wrong Mr. Vince and do as the board have asked and stay on as our manager. There is one thing I know for certain, you will miss this club if you move as it is the friendliest in the country. Wherever you go you will never be made to feel so at home as you are at Witton.
