This morning a few of us were discussing how we thought the game would go. The consensus was Shaw Lane wouldn’t let us play, would break up the game at every opportunity, long ball and play in the final 3rd, lots of fouls and niggles, a few bookings and there may be 1 goal in it. That’s pretty well how it turned out. The game had few real chances, they took one of theirs and we didn’t. We never seemed to get going in the second half - a game too far maybe at the end of along run of games. The gate was 609 - a huge proportion of which were wittoners, probably over half.
