I have always been on planet sensible. Rushe is not trustworthy everyone knows that. We may need cash right now but if we let Vics share our ground they will grow again and that will undermine our position as the senior club in town. In the short term it will be fine but I believe in the long term we will live to regret it. Rushe gets money from somewhere, not enough to finance a ground but enough to rent one and put out a good team, are we really going to help him? God, I hope not. In the end we do not make the decision, the Board does, I am merely voicing the my own opinion.
WHS.
I appreciate your opinion WHS, but I am now of a mind just to give up.
A number of posts on here and other social media have really P***ed me off.
The board and the volunteers are really trying. A thank less task when we have nothing but negativity from the more vocal supporters.
WHS you keep refering to us being the Senior team in town and keeping it that way, has being the Senior team in town brought us larger crowds? A successful team? NO
The fact is we are currently the only team in town and yet 1874 are getting bigger crowds than us, yes we had 405 at the last game but it was a Families for a Fiver game so it should of been a larger crowd.
The facts are we cannot keep going as we currently are, all were hearing is budget cuts etc so all ways of bringing in revenue need seriously looking at, if that means Vics become our tenants then so be it, id rather have Vics than not have Witton so you all need to ask yourself a question…If Mark Harris was to announce tomorrow that Witton Albion will have to fold at the end of this season unless we share with Vics then what would you do?
No-one is decrying the wonderful volunteers who do so much for the club, but if we NEED a team groundsharing in order to survive then we are well and truly and right royally ******.
is’nt this page about todays game not about the groundshare :red
Yes we have been sidetracked by comments about the ground share on what should be a celebration thread
Delighted by the win and ive heard Robbos had to buy the players a crate of beer on the bus home for predicting a Witton loss on the predictions so good on him for doing that.
lets keep the feel good factor for the league games now starting with FCUM next Saturday
Well done today lads UTA
Indeed, a Titch strike, a clean sheet, a win AND Robbo getting the beers in…well done to all!!
I would be amazed as we have more assets than debts. Yes we are struggling for finances but we are far from going bankrupt!!
WHS.
Sorry WHS but this is about a great win for the Albion. Well done to the team and the boss.
Well said!
Yeah congrats to all involved. After however many games it was (inc. Barnton) getting a win is great. Not a vintage performance by any means but they did well, and bar Sheffield hitting the post late on I didn’t think the result was in doubt.
Still plenty of work to do and a massive game in front of a big crowd next week will be a bigger measure of where we are, but its great to end that horrible run, so well done to Sully and the lads. And Robbo, for getting the beers in
Speare looked handy in goal and I think we’ve had more keepers than wins this season. Another one to come?
People often talk about how teams come to WP and get a lift by the facilities and the pitch, and put a bit more effort in than they might do at some smaller or less tidy grounds. Hopefully our lads can view next week as a chance to perform in front of a big crowd, and build on what they did today. UTA :clap
Fantastic result today, well done to all the players and management team and all who travelled across.
ME - never, ever have I said anything about not supporting the club, I am a businessman, Wittoner and realist and I have a right to my opinion (its a Forum). If you doubt my support this season for the club then look on the front cover of every programme.
This thread is about Sheffield and celebrating a win. So why don’t we just do that!
WELL DONE AGAIN TO ALL :clap :clap :clap
Sheffield manager Mick Wadsworth has been sacked tonight
Seems odd, they played ok. Had a 16 year old in nets.
got to agree it’s an excellent result, so let’s take as many as possible to next weeks game atfcum and show the players how passionate we can be about witton.
Ha ha ME Iam negative for thinking a 1-0 win against Sheffield FC is not something to build a season on, then for me Iam glad to be negative and not naive!!! Yes we have broken the losing streak but if u lot think that Robbo buying beer and 1-0 is the answer then Good luck to u!
Sorry for mentioning ground share on this thread but in fairness I don’t think I was the first, though I do have a lousy memory so I might be wrong. Having a poor memory can be a good thing, I have totally forgotten the bad run we supposedly had and can only remember a win in the FA Trophy and £2,700 smackers!!
WHS.
Just checked, I did start it albeit in a roundabout way, sorry!
WHS.
In fairness, it may not have been vintage but it was exactly the kind of win that we needed to grind out under the current circumstances.
For once the run of the ball went our way.
We’re in the draw for the next round, and in cup football that’s all that matters.
Being a realist (not negative!) one win does not suddenly end our current woes, BUT it COULD be the catalyst for an improved run of form. FCUM away was probably not the fixture that we could have done with next though!
Now everyone has let some steam off, can we try and stick together and move forward rather than petty bickering and moaning. I’m prettu sure that ultimately we all want the same thing…
I think it’s time for a group hug
