i feel sorry for the genuine fans of nvfc and wish them luck building a new club from scratch. However it is not our job to help them out and ground share etc…in fact we should look at getting UTD Reserves at Witton…if Tesco had trouble and lost the shop by the station and had to find somewhere new you would not see sainsbury’s letting them use a couple of ailes of their shop! They are our main competitor and we have abd their bad financial management and borrowing over last 30 years [not just cionnett] has been to our detriment because we have managed things well over last ten years but had to be second team of northwich - well no longer…good lucck to vics but we dont owe them any favours and should not be helping them
Today’s Guardian story;

Pete Riley phoned me re this posting by Peter Grimes on their Trust website around 8:30 this evening.
"In the last few minutes the Trust has become aware that Saturday’s game against Exeter is in doubt. The players cheques appear to have bounced today and there is a meeting between Mr Connett and the players tomorrow, so it is possible that Vics have already played their last game. Even if the game goes ahead it will not be televised any more.
It was the Trusts wish that this last game was well attended and was an opportunity to look forward, rather than backwards. This denies our fans, via the televising of the game on Setanta, the opportunity to show the world that we want a football club and that we will be back. It also denies us the opportunity to say goodbye to players we have come to know in recent times and demonstrates a callous disregard and lack of respect to all of us by Mr Connett.
We are also aware that Man Utd, like other Premiership clubs, is very sensitive about its image and its standing in football. Any embarrassment caused to them could result in their reserve team being moved elsewhere.
In the circumstances we would ask as many people as possible to attend tomorrow night’s game between Man Utd. Reserves and Liverpool Reserves and to demonstrate LOUDLY and VISUALLY but PEACEFULLY and ORDERLY in front of the MUFC cameras who show the game. The cameras will be situated on the Danebank.
The kick-off is 7.0pm and the Trust meeting at the Floatel will still go ahead, but if the demand is such then the main meeting will be put back to 8.30pm to enable people to attend both events. If necessary another meeting will be set up as soon as possible, possibly next week.
Please go tomorrow night, but do not break the law or disrupt the game, just show the world what this club means to us."
T’would appear that once again some either incorrect/incomplete information has been passed on to the only true supporters organisation representative of that other club.
The Guardian has started an hourly update on the lizards’ plight at:-

Erm… not quite my friend ;D
So, Northwicher, just what are your assets then? No ground, very limited means of fund-raising, I have to say I agree with Andy Chad’s post on the Vics forum.
Fear not this thread will be repeated in around 3 years from now - maybe less!!!
£50k a year rent in the blue sq north will take some paying!!
lets not get into a slagging war we are too good for that, lets concentrate on ourselves and a possible move back to the heart of northwich at moss farm and be the only team in northwich. back to our roots
Or should that read like a stake in the heart of Northwich
yes if that what it takes
Let us enjoy the moment,eh?!
Phase 1 - Mr Connett relinquishes control of NVFC, the club is saved. DONE ;D
Phase 2 - Mr Connett relinquishes control of the VS (sorry Marstons Arena) hopefully works in progress!.
You are right Mike T, we have no assets apart from the kit we play in. As far as fundraising goes, well NVFC won’t make money on beer sales etc, but the new board have secured the right to sell the private boxes on match days (which can be very popular and a good earner) use the function rooms and also sell the advertising boards. Gate money, car parking, programme sales etc go direct to the club too, so if our attendances do pick up now Mr Connett is no longer in charge, then the new owners may generate the income they need.
If you are referring to Andy Chads post about not giving Connett rent money and starting again - well yes it does stick in the throat a little that he will receive money from the Vics, but I wonder how long this will continue…
If we had needed to start again, albeit in a much lower league, then our Trust had done their homework and were prepared, it wasn’t a case of not having ‘the balls’, obviously recent events have dictated that we haven’t needed to go down that route.
Wincham Rabbit - I suppose it is possible that in 3 years time, we could be in the same boat, who knows? I hope not. Who knows what position Witton will be in, you hope that you will have moved onwards and upwards, but nothing’s certain. We have suffered problems for a number of years, in and out of financial trouble but I am pleased that the new owners have stated we will live within our means. If that is cutting the wage bill and dropping to Conf North, but being run properly, and not accumulating further debts so the future is secure then so be it!
Didn’t come on here to cause mischief (honest ;)) just couldn’t help posting my original message. I have some very good friends who are Wittoners (god knows why! ;D) and as much as it pains me to say it, I think you deserve to be promoted, after narrowly missing out last time, it seems you play good footy and can’t half score goals (although I wouldn’t know, I’d rather watch paint dry than watching you lot! ;)) If we are relegated then perhaps we’ll see you next Boxing Day, another 3 nil Boxing Day massacre to us I hope! ;D
The truth is Northwicher it benefits neither party if V*** had been wound up. Genuinely no supporter deserves for their club to face such threats at the hands of one man. I feel for any fan in that position, yes even those that wear green!
There will always be banter between the clubs and providing it is not abusive or aggressive it is part of the game. Fans often take pleasure in the misfortune of others, there is nothing wrong with that, it stems from the passion and competitive nature of the game. I think in this instance most Wittoners (and actually the V*** fans too) are laughing at the ‘chelsea of cheshire’, ‘premiership type football’, ‘quayside hotel’ rubbish that was hyped up over the last three years. What is mildly amusing is that a high percentage of fans actually believed this and would ram it down our throats at every opportunity.
I think both clubs need to be realistic regards their positions and sensible in their ambitions. The deal to save Vics is great news for Vics fans and good luck to you. Maybe this time people will be a little more cautious in over stating the future, with recent history in mind. Football clubs at non-league level walk a tightrope in terms of survival and progression.
We have had a good season so far but there is a long way to go, right now it looks like we will be playing each other next season (and that would be great for interest in local football) BUT there is a long way to go and none of this has ever been decided in December!
Boxing day derby at the Marstons Arena… it’s got a nice ring to it!
And that IS decided in December!
Saturday morning I got up early, put on my long johns, dressed quietly, made my lunch, slipped quietly into the garage to load up the car, and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour. There was snow mixed with the rain and the wind was blowing 50 mph. I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad throughout the day.I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed. There I cuddled up to my wife’s back, now with a different anticipation, and whispered, "The weather out there is terrible."She sleepily replied,"Can you believe my stupid husband as gone to watch northwich vics in that weather.
I can’t believe some of the comments from certain quarters on here to the fate of the Vics…what possible benefit would it be to Witton to see them go for good ? ???
Not good locally for sport as in honesty I must be misguided as I thought football was a sport (competative yes)…to be enjoyed in the proper manner ?What happened to win with pride…lose with dignity !!!
All our local clubs have over the years had problems but to wish them harm is "negative energy" to say the least ?
A few years ago our local derby’s were brilliant and really well attended and always good hearted banter jobs whether you supported Vics,Witton or Winsford,I live at Winsford but monday mornings back at ICI Winnington were great especially if we had turned Vics or Witton over…if we got beat you just had to take it…Hi Hi… ;D
