Having played you both, Home and Away. I would say you are the better side and personally I would rather have the points in the bag than games in hand any day.
I’d agree 92 points should do it but we need to guard against any complacency. To have more of a guarantee to finish champions I think we need at least one other out and out striker. Thats not because Rod and Adam are no good but I’m thinking in case we get injuries or diabolical loss of form or something. We have quality cover for midfield and defence but not up front. We have Tom Rutter with potential but it would be unfair to throw him in if he had to play against Fleetwood, Gateshead, one for the future I hope and nothing personal!!
I thought we were talking about QUALITY strikers. Nick is a nice lad but not good enough for us. BPA have a good striker called Moseley. Maybe we should have a look at him???
Injury-prone? Best goal scorer we have ever had (well unless you count the otheres from before my time, oh and Smith and Esser were good. And I forgot about Karl Thomas). One of the best goal scorers we have had and I am convinced he can shoot us to the championship.
Love the bones of Mike Moseley. A nice lad and a good striker but I’m not sure you can go back, better to forward think. I don’t think he’d come back anyway at the moment, though I know he is a Wittoner through and through. I was thinking more in terms of going after Louis Briscoe at Leek again. I’m not sure everything is ok at Leek and I was thinking we might have some some flexibility on the budget now that Tom and Dean Crowe have gone. Imagine him coming on as sub or even in the team if we had injuries.
I also like the look of the lad Dean Canning now at Ashton. Looked to have bags of pace and an eye for goal.
Sorry if I’m talking out of turn here. No way am I having a go at anybody but just generating some thoughts and ideas. You can bet your bottom dollar Jim and Nige are thinking about this though themselves at this critical stage of the season.
By the way anyone who scores ten goals in a week like Karl Thomas once did is a legend in my eyes. Hope to see him when we have the Wembley thingy in late January!!
I hope it is very much a rumour. I checked in Saturday with someone within the club who Rochdale would have to come through were they doing things on an official basis and he told me that thus so far there has been no one in with a firm offer for Adam. It would have to be a firm offer too as he’s on a contract I think. The thing is this sort of thing is bound to happen and I hope we have the sense to stand firm and ensure that we get a decent fee if it comes to fruition. Liverpool have just paid £100,000 for a sixteen year old from a scottish non league club. That puts it into perspective for me and I think Adam is worth more than that when you look at some of the rubbish in league and conference football. I know Adam is ambitious but I’m sure he can do better than Rochdale and thats no offence to them its just that I think he could play higher than that e.g Preston’s, Burnley’s that kind of level!!
I think this could be a bit of game play on the part of Fleetwood! there is no mention of Warlow on the Rochdale website or forum at all.
They also have 7 strikers on their books and have just turned down a bid for their star striker Glen Murrey so doesn’t sound as if they will be in desperate need of Warlow.
I fancy the likes of a struggling Port Vale, Tranmere, Peterborough or even Blackpool or Sheff Utd with the Gill Prescott conection to come in for him.
Hopefully if someone comes in for him we are sensible, obviousley we wouldn’t want to stand in his way but equally I think he’s worth much more than what we got for Shaun Whalley lets say.
Anybody worried about Adam leaving just needs to check out the post match interview from a few weeks ago where he said he’s staying for the season, or speak to Nige or Jim.
He’s so important to the team, that was obvious on Tuesday
