Vs Vics

Can we not cancel this game now, or get the youth team to play for the Ressies and the Ressies play Vics we cannot afford to play this game and risk injury or tiredness to first team players for Saturday it’s just too important to us to take any risks and if it is a reserve side then it’s better to announce it as paying £10 for a nonsense game will not go down too well either.

Agreed.

There’s no way we can field any first team players (other than Danny), so either move the game or announce it as reserves so people can make an informed decision.

Ideally move it as we could do without the distraction this week.

The Reserves have a game themselves at Warrington Town Reserves this Thursday.

Me two, either move the game or give the slimy green groudsharing lowlife the trophy (telling them where to put it, obviously)

The Supporters Team could do with a friendly before Sunday?

Might as well go for the silverware. Bully’s special prize! B)

It’s just another bizarre event in a bizarre season tbh. I’m not sure at what point the game was arranged but it was always likely to be a pretty pivotal week!!!

It’s simple really the game cannot go ahead and precedents have been set before where it’s been held over to the next pre season-at least then it’d be between two teams from Mid Cheshire

If the roles were reversed does anyone really think that JRs V*cs would fulfil the fixture?

Like every other Witton fan, I always hate losing to them but are we seriously going to jeopardise our safety in the Premier Division at the expense of a minor competition. Under normal circumstances I would say let’s go out and win the cup but these circumstances are anything but normal.

I know which I would prefer even if it does mean overlooking the chance of silverware because Premier Division safety has to be our priority.

Also to consider is that Phil Carter won the right to manage this game in a recent auction.

Hardly fair to Phil for him to manage a game which nobody wants to take place!!

As Chad says, play it next pre-season.

Agree Robbo, Phil will be of the same opinion I should imagine that we need to stay up.

Totally agree with all the above comments, Sully and Kev need to use Thurs night to train and practice free kicks etc we wasted several good opportunities last night with awful free kicks!

Vics will probably agree to playing it on another date as there involved in the play offs next week and it seems pointless playing it this week as nobody has the stomach for it!

Sod the Cup, I was only coming down for the beer anyway guinness

We have made enquiries with the Mid Cheshire FA but we are unable to move the date.

The date of this game was moved once already and they are reluctant to move it again.

Due to the importance of Saturday’s game the squad will be made up of reserves and available first team players. It is unlikely to be a full strength squad.

moving it past the last game of the season is not plausible as it could cause issues as players cease to be ‘registered’ with the club and would cause issues with insurance etc. We couldn’t play next week as the opposition are involved in the play offs.

It’s far from ideal but the club have tried to move this game to a far more suitable time.

a win on thursday will give a massive boost for stamford on saturday though

So the mighty Mid-Cheshire FA won’t move their precious cup final even if it means their senior club getting relegated.

Bloody pathetic.

I agree I cannot believe the mentality of the Mid Cheshire FA what a disgrace. Ah well a good run out for the reserves in front of an empty house.

It’s a joke! I was going to go tomorrow night but I can’t see anyone turning up and paying a tenner to watch the rezzies ( no offence to bonez and his boys)

As the Reserves have their own fixture tomorrow Bonez will be busy with that fixture, Witton fan Phil Carter is supposed to be the Manager for the Cup final after winning the prize in a charity auction, i imagine Phil was hoping for a match played in a less frantic week with a first team to choose from and a decent crowd, as it stands hes gonna get none of these!

I will be doing my usual pre match music and announcements but im refusing to pay £10 for a game that im annoyed were being forced to play so i shall stay in the club and enjoy the beer festival ales and maybe go and watch the latter stages of the game when the gates open!

We shouldn’t enter the competition next season. See how the mid cheshire fa like it. Whoever agreed this date should hang their head in shame! Or was it a case of putting the social club before the team?

Beer festival was planned for this night before the fixture was changed to it. Initially it was meant to be a quiz night on the Thursday of the beer festival.

This was the only date that the fixture could be arranged on as the opposition were still likely to be involved in play offs at time (and now are). They only came through their semi final mid March. Since then there hasn’t been a single week night available to play this game where one of the teams wasn’t in league or cup action. Hence this been played on a Thursday.

Cant play it next week as it’s play offs. After that the season is over and players will not be registered for the clubs.

This isn’t on the toes of the club, pretty much had hands tied on it. I’m sure if we had beaten Nantwich or Whitby and been mathematically safe there would be far more desire to put out a stronger squad
