‎2-0! Gaghan and Sheehan!

does anyone know the final result thank you

Finished 2-0, could have been more in second half, but never mind, good result!

It’s very tough to play football on a pitch like that.

First half was pretty even in all fairness, not too many chances for either side but some ferocious tackles! Two Albion goals in the first ten minutes of the second half killed the tie. Well done lads and great support too; If the league was decided by support we’d be cruising at the top. UTA.

Monsterous result against a team whose game plan was obviously just to kick us off the park. On a pitch that made Prescots look like a bowling green, the first half was certainly not for the purist as the pitch won, they should definatley rename the ground the Grand Divot Stadium. Added to the fact no whisky was to be found within the premises I hated the first half. Pritch/Mike had a monster of a team talk at half time and two quick goals in the 2nd half did the trick. On a level playing field  HA we would have scored more. However we must stop trying to pass the ball in the net and have an fn shot Very disappointed in the wires approach to the game, i can understand why their support base is so poor they had only six players booked i think the ref decided that he had enough paperwork to complete so he spoke to the Wires captain and decided to call a truce.
Not a great advert for the Evostik League but 3 more points away from relegation.
COME ON U REDS

The last time we played at Warrington we lost not only the game but our Manager so this was a great result that puts us within 7 points of Curzon who appear to be cracking under the pressure, let us hope so.

3 great points against a very dirty warrington team 6 booked and that was letting them off, and the pitch was atrocious it could not roll 2 yards without bobbling and the grass was way too long, maybe this suited Joe Dunns tactics of high balls, heavy tackling, rutting and the ball bouncing everyone - maybe I went to the wrong warrington and I found the rugby team certainly felt like it. Onto Witton thought we played quite poorly for us, both wingers were ineffectual and it look like Josh was not enjoying the physical side of it, Sheehan was not his usual self giving the ball away a fair bit, the introduction of james for the injured schofield seemed to make us more effective and we made better use of the possession he won, overall not great performance but given everything on the day a good result and keeps us well in touch at the top, heard today Liam Newman is back in training which is good news, Gaghan did well today but he might be better on the wing and i think we might be stronger for it.

That wretched pitch looked as if no effort had been made on it whatsoever, truely awful and immpossible to play proper football on!!
That was a damn good result believe me!!! Come on the Albioooooon!

 Totally agree with M E we totally MONSTERED Warrington. Top support yet again from the travelling Albs, but not sure if father christmas and his lookalikes are true Albs.Drop a couple of points at Curzon and they stay away.Poor example to kiddy Albs if you ask me.

2trains1 bus 1- ME 2 ! monster result

Agree with most of the comments re the pitch, the ineptness of the referee in not reducing Warrington to 9 or 10 players, but in the end a class move between Josh, then Titch led to our first goal. So CJ even though maybe some of the players didn’t enjoy the crudeness of the Warrington players (who in their right minds would? - I don’t know many footballers who relish the thought of a broken leg - perhaps I’m a southern softie?) class will always eventually come out on top even on a crap pitch- it just takes that bit longer! Well done to all. It was a pity that young Tom Scholfield was injured. I hope his back is OK? he will be a class act, no doubt about that. Thought that Ollie James played well though when he came on. I think that we are back in the play off places now? A good place to be just after Crimbo! We seem to have a good squad capable of promotion? SBL

Witton team:

Matt Cooper, Anthony Gardner, Matty Wood, Ben Harrison, Paul Booth, Tom Schofield, Josh Hancock, Anthonhy Sheehan, Chris Gahgan, Alex Titchiner, Danny Andrews.

Subs: Josh Glover, Olly James, Dean Ennion, Matt Woolley, Mark Buchan.

Subs Used: Olly James for Tom Schofield, Mark Buchan for Alex Titchiner, Josh Glover for Olly James.

We are on a roll again methinks.

yes a good result against a very crude warrington team, this squad just gets better and better, grinding a win against this team of cloggers. well done to pritch, mose and the players. next up an improved trafford, so let’s get down to the h4h stadium to cheer the boys on into the new year. happy new year to one and all. come on witton.

It’s harsh to criticise our boys for the standard of play on that pitch.
It was one of the worst surfaces I’ve seen. The ball bobbled constantly which led to poor control and misplaced passes. In fact I think we did well.
Especially when you also consider the cynical approach of the home team. It’s often the resort of a poor team to kick better players, but this rabble set out to stop us playing football. Their manager should hang his head in shame if that’s what he expects his sides to serve up. He certainly didn’t like that being pointed out to him!
Whilst we also had bookings it seemed like the ref was evening up the card count and our lads deserve credit for continuing to play football. I can only remember one serious shot by them in the second half which Coops saved well to his left.
So it was an excellent 3 points made more valuable by other top teams slipping up. I’m guessing Skem losing at Prescot could have been pitch quality related and we didn’t suffer that today.
And just like Prescot the parking situation at Warrington is a joke.

See you all in 2012!!!

See you then WHS the second half looks to be an exciting one, We are undoubtedly the best side in the league but it does not mean we will win it as Jim Vinces side found on several occasions, so lets hope for a bit of good luck and an injury free run, ps did olly james go off injured ?

Olly looked to be suffering from a clash of heads, and was substituted by Josh Glover in the 90+2 minute.

I think there is a BIG difference in the two teams; this one is full of Wittoners led by Wittoners, they are here for the glory, not the money.
