Where do we go from here?

I hate my boss at work [/quote]

So Pritch passed his sergeant’s exam?

apologies CJ

Whatever the problem with Guards he was a good player who Pritch seemed to handle ok but Sully could’nt and OK Guards was wrong in what he did. Sully is a nice bloke but not good enough to manage at our level. What bothers me now is that we get the right manager in. I’m worried because on past record Mark’s judgement of a manager has not been that great but in all other aspects a great chairman!! With this in mind would it not be possible to get a shortlist for the job and have Paul Ogden present at the interviews to advise and maybe help. I know he and Mark are friends and Paul would know what attributes a good manager should have with his experience.
Just an a constructive idea to help Mark and the board try and get the right man this time because lets face it we are running out of chances to get it right in the dressing room and on the field.
I agree with Robbo on Jon Dawson the lad gives 100% all the time and he is a good lad to talk to after the game. hope he stays with us along with a certain guy Daniel Andrews. I’m not really that bothered about the rest if I’m honest I’m sure that will upset a few on here.

So who would we keep if they all would stay ? Bearing in mind some are pretty young and we are dropping a level, it would be a base to build and let the new manager bring in the exta quality we need to get promotion

For me :

Keep: Porter, Dawson. Shaw.Andrews. Hancock. Schofield.Titchener 7

Possibles : Goulding.Parker.Simpson.Corbett. Chrisokhou. Swift 6

Leave:. Rainford.Clarke, Joe Shaw.Gardener 4

Needs - 1st 11 players at right back, centre mid captain type, centre back, 2 x strikers 5

A squad of 18 if the possibles are kept and not improved on, of course all this depend on budgets and who will stay. Only my view not trying to wind up or annoy just to gauge opinions and a have bit of fun.

For me as long as Andrews, Dawson and Dean Porter stay il be happy

I’d like to keep Hancock, Titch, Schofield but I doubt they’d want to stay on the money we could afford. I think Danny’ is on contract and I hope he stays because he’s a mate as well as a damn good player I’ll try to get him to stay anyway as he works in a building not far from where I work so I can chat to him ! The Goulding lad is’nt bad either I forgot about him. Clarke is a good player but he does’nt give 100% so yes he can go. Not sure about Jon Shaw like him to stay if he is committted to the cause.and of course Jon Dawson who I think would be good at this level. As for the rest bye bye as they say all the best for the future somewhere else!! Sorry I’m a bit mercenary but I’m still smarting from the lack of effort some of them gave us!! It all does hinge on who comes in though lets hope its someone decent not someone who won the NW Counties div 2 in 2001 on a budget of ten quid!!

Danny Andrews and John Shaw have already committed to next season but whether our relegation has any bearing on their decisions we will have to wait and see. Jon Dawson has indicated that he would like to stay also but I’ve an idea that Liam Goulding has returned to Accrington Stanley as he was only on loan.

The other players mentioned is anyone’s guess as to where they will be next season and I doubt that will be sorted out until a new manager is in place.

For me me I would like to see Andrews, Dawson, John Shaw, Hancock and Schofield, as for the rest I wouldn’t be bothered to see them go, we have to bring in an Olly James type player in my opinion can’t put into words how big of a player he was for us, just never replaced him. But there’s lots of players out there with FC, Warrington, Salford and the likes shipping in new players must be a few we could sign from their last seasons squads, it’s gonna be an interesting summer

Ollie James is a great shout, he’s only 28 what a player he would be to bring back in captain material for sure, he signed for Hinckley but didn’t play ? Maybe he’s moved south but any new manager worth his salt would try surely.

Completely agree CJ, I thought the first thing Sully would do would bring in a couple in the Ollie James mould but it just didn’t happen for whatever reason. One things for sure we are going to need a few like Ollie next season.

I think who signs will primarily depend on who is appointed as manager and then which league we are allocated to. In any event the new manager will want to make sure he has the players he needs to mount a realistic challenge in the new league. I don’t think there is a huge difference between the premier league and those below, as evidenced by the success of promoted clubs like Curzon (well done to them BTW). Whoever gets the job its going to be a tough year but we can only hope that we re-group and put a team on the pitch that competes and doesn’t capitulate as we saw towards the end of last season.

Article in the Guardian and Andrew Simpson’s Twitter this morning that the club are closer to appointing a new manager.

Wish HE would get on with it as we need to start rebuilding now

Lots of good advice on who to sign/keep/let go, I feel.

Yes, a battler such as Ollie James would be great. I’d love to see a true two-footer in the mould of that player who departed (who was also a two-footed tackler, enough of a clue??). Titch back at his best would be almost enough to get us up if we had a few who could pass the ball to him, not give away stupid free kicks and penalties, play for 90 minutes etc. Oh dear, it’s turning into a rant, better stop now.

I hope titch stays he was unstoppable in the first division a few years ago, scoring some crackers (harrogate railway and Lancaster away automatically spring to mind) if he can find anything like that form we’ll stand a chance of going back up.
I know it all seems a bit doom and gloom right now but I’m actually looking forward to next season. If we make a good start, win some games the feel good factor will come back and hopefully the fans that have stayed away of late will do too.

The number of times I’d be texting “1-0 Titch” was amazing, he lost his mojo a bit last season and things just wouldn’t go for him, I hope he can stay! We were so up and down performance wise in those last six games it was unbelievable, we were superb against FCUM to a man that really stood out them being champions. Other games we started well but just one thing would have to go wrong and we’d go to pieces, it was difficult to come to terms with really!

I guess that we will find out the new manager tomorrow then? Looking forward to this

I’m looking forward to it much more than the general election result

And me, lets hope we start hearing some good news for a change and hope our luck changes for next season. UTA

I love my pie at WP I hope that doesn’t change! :stuck_out_tongue:
