In my humble opinion the loss of Mr. Worthington is a far greater blow to this Club than the loss of Mr. Vince. Football managers are two a penny and are only any good if they have a good financial backing. Without Mr. Worthington I am worried we could slide into finacial trouble again. Whatever you say, Mr. Worthington did a fantastic job for Witton Albion when the chips were really down. The “vulture” will now return, mark my words. (You all know who the “vulture” is, the man who wanted his money back a few seasons ago and was seen off by our now ex chairman and his board.)I do hope our new chairman is half as capable as Mr. Worthington, if not we will soon be in a mess.

WHS, where did last week’s good cheer go, have you lost again at bowls!!!
:silly:
Well what can you say - Mike has been a tremendous servant of the club over the years and I hope he reads these message as if ever a man did a thankless job it was Mike.
Yes he has upset various people along the way (I don’t mean last week) but he has steered us such a very long way and it is too his credit that we have despite what people think in context never had a bad season whilst he has been in charge. 10th in Unibond 1 was the lowest we suffered and given the financial starins we have had thats not too bad in my book.
I’m unsure at this stage whether Julie/Paul will also cease their involvement in the club - if they do this will be a much greater loss than people are hinting at with just Mike leaving. In Mike and Julie you are looking at 2 people who have won the Ethel Stelfox award - that in itself must be some marker.
Finally re GM’s post - the AGM probably wouldnt be until the winter - the clubs year end is June. An EGM is feasible but would be a cost the club can ill afford at this time and surely unadvisable. A supporters meeting would be very similar and probably better.
The time has come for people to step up and actually take some action for the future of the club.
have just read about Mike resigning, have not been on website for about a week, and must admit this was a shock.Mike as pulled the club from uncertanty, and possible extinction.Mike as also done a marvelous job working for the club over many hours, and pulling it up by the scruff of the neck,to where it is today, and i for would like to thank Mike for doing this, and hope that he reconsiders his resignation.Lets just hope that the club does not got back to those dark days of ten years ago, befor Mike took over at the helm.Mike if you read this please reconsider.Once again THANK YOU MIKE.
Steve
Not surprised MW has resigned. Only surprised he didn’t mention the obvious reason for his decision (he’s probably too much of a gentleman to engage in a slanging match with supporters). The reason I reckon is the disrespect that was shown to him by the anti-MW brigade. Also, threats of boycotting home games and season tickets would not have been received very well at board level.
Well guys, you got what you wanted. Now what?
Not often I have agreed with Rob Sproston in the past, but agree 100% with his comments.
Thanks Mike, to you and your family, for all your hard work and dedication over the past 10 years - I don’t know where we would have been without you, but I guess we’ll find out in a few months time!
I hope to God I’m proved wrong and we can move onwards and upwards. But I won’t be holding my breath.

Eddie that is so ridiculous it’s untrue. Disrespect? Respect works both ways.
If Jim felt he was been shown respect would he have walked out? Of course not.
Lets take for example MW’s decision to “rebrand” the reserves as Northwich United for next season WITHOUT CONSULTING ANYBODY. That is hugely disrespectful to the supporters, the club and all the people who have toiled over the years to raise the profile of the club.
Or is it that in your eyes MW is beyond reproach and we, the fans, who ONLY have the best interests of the club at heart are the villains?
Greenie, I am not going to get into a slanging match with you, much as I would like.
However, you said respect works both ways - er, no it doesn’t. Also, I did not mention JV’s role in this.
No-one is above reproach, but MW deserved far more respect that he got from certain factions within the club.
There will be no arguing with you guys, you got what you wanted, let’s see how you deal with the consequences.
Hopefully, see you next season.

Well said Neil. Too much talk and very little action on this website.
I WILL be re-newing my Season & Car Park ticket and WILL continue to do the turnstiles for all night games and assist if short for the afternoon games.

When did we stop wanting the same thing - the future progress of WAFC?
I think there is a huge difference between asking questions and calling for the Chairman to resign. Most of the comments and remarks have been based on concerns for the present situation and very very few suggested Mike’s resignation was required.
I personally believe that the board should have been increased in size (not reduced) to share the burden of the workload on Mike and to increase the level of democracy. More decision makers (football people and lifelong Wittoners) could have helped to improve things.
Why does my wish to take part in a sport/game rather than just be a spectator upset so many Wittoners? You pays your money and you take your choice and whether I made it to games or not my money did.
WHS.
WHS I think the reason is that you post on here about 10 times as many as matches you attend.
I seriously hope that mark has more sense than to want jim back! We NEARLY got promoted twice…nearly just isnt good enough in this league. We should be looking at what JV really achieved in his time at witton and any other club for that matter, do we really want someone who hasnt achieved much in there footballing career back???
I think we all show our support and try to get the one man back that has furthered us along…mike!
I for one really hope mike comes back. He has been the best thing thats ever happened to witton we need to remember there might not have been a WAFC if it hadnt been for this man.
I hope those of you who have forced mike to this decision are really please as i feel its the worse than us not getting promoted!
Yet another (in)credible post by somebody not willing to put there name on here! It doesn’t really warrant a response but what a load of rubbish. Anybody following the team over the past 2 and a half seasons has seen the product on the pitch, this is down to Jim, Nige, and the players (assisted by the board with the budget). The best football seen at WP since the early 90s, FACT
now now greg!! were all entitled to our opinions and i think everyone is getting slightly sick of hearing yours! its a forum for people to share there views not to be slagged off for what they think FACT
I fully agree with you about that, I’m having my opinion on the garbage you’ve just posted!
Message received, no more posts.

Well said MrH I quite agree with what you have said.As much as I like Jim and the way his team has played its football, the harsh reality is that when it came to the crunch for 2 seasons running the team bottled it.As to why, nobody knows.BUT,after having to watch our season collapse at the final fence and then see us loose the one man who knew how to run a club successfully on a shoe string I know who I would like back.Mike…I fear you will be sorely missed at this club.
MrH, surely you will appreciate that success on and off the pitch requires a team effort.
A chairman can’t coach the team, improve fitness levels and set a style of play.
A manager can’t oversee the day to day operations, the business strategy and the financial future.
A football club is about more than one man (or two men for that matter). Without the 488 people (average home attendance) who attended the matches at Wincham Park there would not be a football club. You have to play a good standard of football to attract the crowds, to generate a budget to further invest in the team and off the pitch development. Our crowd numbers have pratically doubled in the last two seasons and that is an indisputable fact which confirms the quality of football on display. The main growth in attendances has been through Wittoners as only the other top 4 or 5 clubs brought anything like a reasonable support with them.
The current situation is not about ‘Jim’ OR ‘Mike’ it is about having the combination of the right manager and board in place. There will clearly be those with divided opinion that make this situation about one man or the other, but it is about more than that.
Your statement of regarding what Jim has achieved and not been good enough is bizarre, we have gone closer to achieving promotion over the last two years than at any other time during Mike’s tenure. Now that is credit to both Jim and Mike, but if you have been to Wincham Park over the past two seasons you will have seen a significantly better quality of football than for 10 years or more. Add to the above the players obvious contribution, the work of the fans and other volunteers and you will be closer to the truth that this has been a team effort and not the work of one man. If football club’s become about one individual that is when the real fun starts, there are many many many examples.
You are entitled to your opinion regarding Jim as are the Chelsea fans that still criticise Avram Grant (despite the fact they are still playing for the Premiership Title and the Champions League Final)!
Posting if ‘Mark has more sense’, and taking about those that ‘forced Mike out’ achieves very little. Mark has acted swiftly as Chairman to help stabilize the situation and no one forced Mike out (he is his own man and made the decision for a variety of reasons). If you post such forceful one sided arguments other fans will naturally post back in the same robust manner.

And no other Chairman is the entire football pyramid has had to operate under this remit???
Ill repeat this message , but the one sensible thing everyone at Witton should have done is gone away for 2 weeks after the final game . All of this confusion , of who said what to who is down to pure emotion . Things would have been sorted out in a more proffessional manner had they waited instead of goin off on one!!!In fact it should have been planned to do this and hopefully the club will recognise to have this cool off period in place in future seasons to avoid all this fiasco. As for reasons ie budgets , money etc , like i said before our rivals our always in the s£*t,moneywise, its a running joke with us Wittoners BUT they always seem to find the money to improve the squad they must be doing somthing right. Perhaps we should gamble and go in the red for a change.
