Witton return to league action on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Kidsgrove Athletic to the U Lock It Stadium in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.
Grove made a tremendous start to the season back in August winning all of their first seven league games, the run being halted by neighbours Newcastle Town.
A run of six successive defeats starting with Witton’s visit to the Autonet Stadium, saw them fall off the pace and they have struggled for consistency since.
Two goals from Connor Hughes and another from Tom Pope saw Albion secure the points in a 3-1 win earlier in the season, and they will be looking to complete the double as they try to keep pace with the top places.
Last season saw Witton take four points from Grove with a 1-1 draw away from home and then a narrow victory at the U Lock It Stadium by the odd goal in five.
Two defeats from the last two games, albeit one in the Cheshire Senior Cup against Congleton Town have halted Witton’s progress slightly but they will be hoping to start another winning run in what will be another tough game.
Grove are looking for their first win in five games, their previous four seeing two draws and two defeats so they will be hoping to address that.
Last weekend’s defeat at Nantwich Town was a disappointment as they could’ve made inroads into the play off places but it wasn’t to be and we move on.
Another opportunity faces them to get closer to the top five but they will have to work for the desired result.
Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 3pm.
