Witton Albion v. Mossley AFC

Witton look to pick up their first win of the new season when they welcome Mossley AFC to the U Lock It Stadium in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture on Tuesday night.

Jon Macken’s team kicked off their campaign with a decent point at Vauxhall Motors on Saturday from a tricky opening game but had to come from behind twice in doing so, courtesy of two Kingsley Williams penalties.

The sight of striker Connor Hughes was a welcome boost but he will need time to build up his match fitness.

Mossley began their season at the weekend with a narrow 2-1 victory against Prescot Cables so will be tough opponents for the Albion.

Both teams have undergone changes in personnel in pre season so will take time to get used to each other’s game.

The two teams finished sixth and seventh respectively last season with Witton finishing four points ahead of their opponents.

Witton started the season without last season’s leading scorer Joe Duckworth due to suspension whilst Mossley have lost the services of Mason Fawns who has moved on.

The Lilywhites have added to their squad in pre season with the signings of goalkeeper Chris Thompson and former Albion midfielder Callum Leigh, whilst experienced midfielder Andy Keogh seems to go on relentless as ever.

Last season Mossley got the better of Witton over the two league games but a new season brings new hope and expectations.

A difficult game is in prospect and Witton will need to put on a performance in order to get the desired result.

Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 7.45pm.

First home game for the Albs, hoping for better after a poor game saturday.

I would bring Lawrie into midfield for Roberts, Taylor Kennerley in for Jackson and upfront either Harry Cain or Mwasile for Baxter.

Either of Pope with Rokka that team would be more creative and have more goal threat than saturday!

But let’s see what Jon thinks. UTA
