Poor performance today against a strong looking Salford outfit. Inevitable that Steve Foster would be the one to get the goal. Big problem with the right fullback position. We can’t keep relying on Andy K to get the goals though he should have scored his 18th of the season when he missed an absolute sitter when it really mattered. With 2 tough games comimg up we have to turn things round and with the 5 teams above us in the table all having games in hand it is going to take all the managers experience to achieve it.
MoM Salfords No4 Cross - never put a foot wrong all game.
Good god I can’t believe i agree with Eli !!
mind you I must have lost the plot after trying to be a ball ball at my age. You can’t have thugs like me near to the area of play sorry.Elf and safety.
PS Thought the ref was more concerned with me than what was going on in the game. However thought he had a good game he must have made at least five decisions during the whole game.Maybe we could dispense with officials at our level. Think of the cost saving.Every penny counts (Sorry if i have infringed Tesco,s rights].
PS if I have a life ban now Thank God
It was a poor performance and I gave up watching England beat Australia to see it. But the fact remains we are still in with a shout for a play off place in the league and considering our finacial position that has to be something to be pleased about. Mr Ogden is very experienced and I have every faith in him, I am sure he will get us into the play offs if he can just find a good right back!

One thing that was nice to see and bodes well for our future was the fact that apart from the game involving Chester ours was the best gate in the league, well done all you Wittoners and don’t stop coming now, with this kind of support we can be winners.

I dont think there’s any need to even mention Tuesday’s game. It has been well documented that we had a lengthy injury list, and that was the sole reason for the changes in the line up. You can’t pick players if they aren’t fit.
Yesterday’s game, we never really got going. We played some good football, but it was in isolated segments of the game and we never put this together for sustained periods.
We have a good team, with some excellent players (i think some of these players could have gotten into Jim Vince’s team). The problem is that we are also carrying a couple of major passengers. These is largely due to having a small budget, but i personally think there are 1 or 2 players that it is time to move on and replace with more effective options.
The bare facts of yesterday are that we didn’t perform how we can, and lost to what is a good team at this level. It happens. We didn’t disgrace ourself, and i am sure everybody will learn from the experience. Salford were more ‘clever’ than we were, but they have a team who are very experienced at this level - and in Foster they have a proven goalscorer (the script was already written…).
I feel much more positive yesterday than i did at Skem, so i’m not going to go verboard with criticism. We played very well last week, but the difference is probably that Salford were better at stopping us from playing than Radcliffe were.
I personally think we are a better side with Pritch and Ben at the back, and Kearney at RB.
With no right back to speak of I have to agree with Robbo, but it hurts to do so as I think the Kearney/Harrison combination is one of the best in the league.

Well the resting of players did us no good, they were in our face did not give us time to play and I have to agree what were the subs all about, botham the pick of our midfield the only one having any joy taken off, why not take off Bryan who had little joy going forward and contributes nothing defensively ( he did play well last week tho ) some games you cannot play all your pretty players you have to graft and in this one Salford had a game plan and worked it well and really stopped us playing, still a couple of player short imo - why can we not find a full back we keep signing players for midfield and forward easily enough ? this season could go all the way for play offs and there will be a good few teams in the mix just hope we are one of them.
Believe that Paul Booth is fit again now - he has not got a club so why don’t we give him a trial,he did ok for us at fullback before getting injured ?
CJ - you can’t relate getting beat to the fact that we rested players, we were beaten by a better team on the day, just like Sunderland beat Chelsea today !
One of those days,i had this feeling this could happen all week. There is no problem with the right back spot,Moffatt and Holt are two very good players,Peter is obviously filling in to his frustration.
Salford were full of experienced players and played their part in a good game. They were able to see out the game with some very clever wide balls that made us turn and defend in areas of the pitch that you do not want to be in when you are chasing the game.
Full marks to Steve Foster who played very well and was well restrained in his goal celebrations.
Ben Harrison coped very well defending against Steve.Never mind Crewe making an offer for Ben,at this rate Sir Alex will be making an offer that we cannot refuse.

I thought Booth was at Leek?
Agree with you on the ‘resting’ bit. I don’t think it’s possible to ‘rest’ players whp aren’t actually fit! It’s like saying United are resting Rooney!
Talking to Boothy’s parents on saturday and they say that Paul has’nt got a club and that Oggy says he is satisfied with his squad (35 used and rising). I think we could do worse than give Paul a go.
Booth would be a much better option ar right back if hes over his injury, as would colin mcallister who is only at winsford ? which is why i wonder why we struggle to find one, and dont get me going on injured players vs woodley I can guarantee a couple were injured but most were rested maybe had a niggle but if we had had a league game they would have played, we wont know now if we had gone there with a stronger side and won would that have kept our confidence higher, maybe we are not as good as we thought and are finding our level.
