Witton look to continue their charge for the top five, when they welcome Stalybridge Celtic to the U Lock It Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.
The two teams are separated by one point and two places in the league table although Celtic do have a game in hand.
Witton’s record in recent years against the Bower Fold outfit is somewhat disappointing particularly at the U Lock It Stadium or Wincham Park in the past, Celtic winning on each of their last three visits.
Indeed, Albion haven’t tasted a home success since September 2017 when they ran out comfortable 4-1 winners so will be hoping to improve on that record.
Stalybridge have stumbled a little in recent weeks, winning only one of their last five matches but drawing three so Witton will be looking to make sure that run continues at least for this game.
The return meeting saw Stalybridge comfortable victors at Bower Fold earlier in the season by 4 goals without reply courtesy of a brace each from Matty Bryan and Aaron Dwyer.
Witton midfielder Brandon Newell was a member of the Celtic team that day in a game which saw Kingsley Williams sent off late in the game for two bookable offences.
A familiar face to Witton fans could be Michael Brewster who had a short spell with the club but has moved around a bit since then.
Jon Macken has been busy in the week adding to his squad with the signings of two familiar faces namely, defender Scott Lycett and then goalkeeper Danny Roberts has also returned to the club adding competition for places at an important part of the season.
A tough game faces the team but victory will see them overtake their opponents in the table.
Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 3pm.

Chad has posted the following on the Witton Albion Football Club website.
We expect a few ex-players are coming along tomorrow, most of whom also played for Celtic, eg Mark Edwards, Karl Thomas, Paul Higginbotham, John Brown, Mark Burrell.
A lot of appearances and goals between them over several tremendous years of service back in the late 1980’s, early 1990’s.
Be good to see them
