Witton Albion vs Spalding Utd 13th March

Surely we can manage to beat Spalding to at least give us a glimmer of hope of a play-off spot ?

What the team will be - well no Foster no Super Mike and no Henry. Probably Lamb & Morgam injured ?

The injury to Mike rather puts things into perspective - we winge and moan ( well I for one do ) but these lads are playing for teams like Witton with probably ? no insurance and have jobs and families to see to as well.

Hopefully the players will be insured through the club insurance, against injury,i would have thought?will hold my hands up if wrong tho

Probably the most honest posting you’ve ever made Eli!

As far as I am aware this is no insurance. Paul Booth for example is funding his very own expensive operation which should not be overlooked. I believe insurance is optional rather than conditional at this level. Personally I think it we should absolutely insist on players (for their own benefit) being insured and perhaps the premiums met 50/50 by the club and by a deduction from their weekly wage/expenses.

As far as I am aware all clubs have to have player insurance, conveniently supplied via the FA, it covers loss of earnings and expenses, but doesnt cover private operations. Anyone self employed or on dual income would be barmy not to have their own.

I agree with you Grazzer and certainly my previous understanding was that this was compulsory, as you say to cover for accidents such as this one although not for private treatment. I thought it was conditional of the county FA membership, indeed a recall that when the supporters team played against V*** that insurance cover for that game was required (or maybe that was just because of the opposition). I’m sure an official from the club will confirm the situation in the fullness of time.

Just looked on the CFA website and it says " Personal Accident Insurance is compulsory for all teams belonging to clubs affiliated to the Cheshire County FA "

It’s also a condition of the Unibond League and all clubs have to deliver a certificate to the league before the season kicks off. Good to know then that at least these requirements are in place.

Anyway…how about that Spalding game on Saturday. BIG game.

BIG game indeed Robbo - failure to win this one will make for a very interesting AGM !

That opening day victory at Spalding is just a distant memory now.
Their league position must be a true reflection so if we don’t beat them we don’t deserve a playoff position.

To be honest, a win should be a given. It’s about time we saw a decent 90 minute performance to go with it.

The result is paramount, but i would hope that we see a team raring to go from the first whistle to the last. Dedication, hunger, (controlled) aggression, determination - and plenty of hard work.

Let’s win this one for Super Mike - and let’s win it in a manner similar to how Mike would approach the game.

Last Saturdays performance was perhaps the worst of the season, the previous Saturday against Stamford all was fine with a good win. Maybe a good point away at Crapwell, then the Carlton game.

If only a couple of the saved/missed/came back off the post pens had gone in maybe four more points we would only be out of the playoff places on goal difference still in with a good chance! We have also been just unlucky in some games we’ve totally dominated with some great football and not got what we thouroughly deserved! COME ON ALBIOOOOON!

P.S good grief I have got on here AND managed to submit a post! Yesterday at work “Account suspeded” got home tried several different browsers direct “Account suspended” got on via official website but each time i clicked on “submit” got “account suspended”. This evening “account suspended” till just now!! Hurrah

They say luck can change, its about time ours did!!
WHS.

It seems an eternity ago last August in sunny Spalding.

We need to make our customary early explosive starts count against a team that has struggled all season. An early goal could make all the difference.

As Marston M says we need a little luck that hopefully remains for the remainder of the season.

I appreciate some people will not want to hear this but there are a lot of points to play for and maybe some imperfections could be forgotten if we make the playoffs.

I know what may happen in the summer and it never sits easy with me.

its taken me about two days to log on here, after reading
some of the drivel on here i wonder why i bothered.

we have eleven games to play 11x3 =33points
we are 7 points off 2nd spot and 4points off
a play off spot.
still plenty to play for yet.

Voice of common sense and sanity as always Tonee.

All to play for and let’s see where we are at the end of the season.
We may be pleasantly surprised.

We took 15 points from the last 11 games. 6 of which were at home.

In the next 11 games we travel to Rushall, Mickleover, and Belper.

How many points do we honestly think we need to aim for to make the play offs?

I would say we probably need to take 27 points to be sure of a play off place.

after saturday we’ve got a difficult few games mickleover both home and away & both belper & rushall away, imo unless we come away from these four games with at least 8 points we will fall short…anyway we need to beat spalding first so that’s at least 11 pts from 15.
If the above does happen then with a not so difficult run in we stand a chance.
At present the odds are against us.
